Yankees outfield prospect Adonis Garcia will be sidelined 6-8 weeks after having surgery Thursday to repair a broken left wrist.
The injury occurred during batting practice Sunday. A Cuban defector, Garcia didn’t have a shot at an Opening Day roster spot despite the Yanks’ depth issues in the outfield. He ended the 2012 season at Double-A.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #59

Phillies activated RHP Jhoan Duran from the 15-day injured list.
Duran reclaims his spot as Philadelphia’s closer, with interim stopper Brad Keller shifting back to a setup role, after missing just over two weeks recovering from an oblique strain. The flame-throwing 28-year-old has recorded five saves to accompany a sparkling 1.35 ERA and 8/0 K/BB ratio across 6 2/3 innings this season. He’ll be active for Tuesday’s showdown against the Athletics at Citizens Bank Park.
Target Red Sox’ Anthony for trade amid injury
Provided he doesn't get bad news about his hand, Roman Anthony could be a good buy-low candidate in fantasy baseball.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #38
White Sox acquired RHP Trevor Richards from the Phillies for cash.
Richards heads to Chicago after making a pair of relief appearances for the Phillies since being called up last week from Triple-A. The 32-year-old journeyman has made 297 career appearances between eight different organizations since 2018.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #33
White Sox transferred RHP Drew Thorpe to the 60-day injured list.
It’s merely a procedural move to free up a spot on Chicago’s 40-man roster while Thorpe continues working his way back from Tommy John surgery.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #54
Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy told reporters Sonny Gray (hamstring) is likely to start Wednesday’s game against the Tigers.
Gray completed a bullpen session earlier this week without any issues and has made it to Detroit already. The 36-year-old veteran hit the shelf back in late April with a hamstring strain. His return likely pushes Payton Tolle back to the minors, unless they want to make a more dramatic move like shipping out a struggling Brayan Bello.
  • SD 3rd Baseman #24
Padres recalled INF Sung-Mun Song from Triple-A El Paso.
Song got into a game for San Diego during the Mexico City Series back in late April. He’ll get his first extended opportunity with Jake Cronenworth hitting the injured list with a concussion. The 29-year-old brings some defensive versatility to the table and should fill a bench role after signing a four-year, $15 million contract with the Padres in the offseason.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #1
Padres activated LHP Yuki Matsui from the 15-day injured list.
Matsui returns to San Diego’s bullpen mix after missing nearly six weeks at the outset of the season with a left groin strain. The 30-year-old southpaw has been a key component of the Padres’ relief corps, making 125 appearances since 2024.
  • SD 2nd Baseman #9
Padres placed INF Jake Cronenworth on the 7-day concussion injured list.
It’s a bit unclear when Cronenworth suffered a concussion recently but he’s headed to the injured list with Sung-Mun Song coming up to take his roster spot.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #68
Padres optioned LHP Kyle Hart to Triple-A El Paso.
Hart returns to the minors after posting a lackluster 5.40 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 10/6 K/BB ratio across 16 2/3 innings over 12 appearances at the highest level this season. He’ll continue operating in long relief for San Diego.
  • BOS Left Fielder #19
Roman Anthony is day-to-day with a right wrist sprain.
Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy told reporters there are no plans to place Anthony on the injured list after he was evaluated by a hand specialist on Tuesday. The 21-year-old prodigy figures to miss a couple additional games this week, including the club’s final two games in Detroit. However, he isn’t facing an extended absence, which is an extremely positive development after there was some real concern initially. There should be a definitive return timetable at some point later this week.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #53
Tuesday’s game between the Brewers and Cardinals has been postponed due to inclement weather.
There was zero chance of this one ever getting going based on the forecast at Busch Stadium on Tuesday night. It’ll be made up as a doubleheader on July 7. Tuesday’s original starters — Brandon Sproat and Andre Pallante — will presumably be pushed back to take the ball on Wednesday instead.
