  • INT Relief Pitcher #51

Nik Turley has signed a one-year contract with the Hiroshima Carp of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
Turley spent the entire 2021 campaign at Triple-A Charlotte in the White Sox’ minor-league system, recording five saves to go along with a respectable 5.02 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 60/21 K/BB ratio across 43 innings (43 appearances). The 32-year-old left-hander made 25 relief appearances with the Pirates during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign.

Marlins designated RHP Stephen Jones for assignment
It was a short stay on the big league roster for Jones, who could return to the Marlins organization on a minor league contract if he clears waivers.
Glasnow's K milestone marred by early exit
After making MLB history on Wednesday, James Schiano dives into Tyler Glasnow's early removal, assessing how fantasy managers should move forward with the "mercurial" starting pitcher.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #93
Marlins selected the contract of LHP Robby Snelling from Triple-A Jacksonville.
This move was known for most of the week, but is now official. Snelling had an official breakout last season, and then continued that with an impressive start to this season, posting a 1.86 ERA and 44/15 K/BB ratio across 29 innings at Triple-A. He’s worth an add in all formats, but it should be noted that the jump to the big leagues is a large one, and rookie pitchers tend to be inconsistent.
  • NYY Relief Pitcher #74
Yankees recalled RHP Kervin Castro from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Castro posted a 3.14 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 14 1/3 innings at Triple-A, but he has just a 10/4 K/BB ratio. He’ll serve as bullpen depth for the Yankees, but could head right back down when Carlos Rodon comes off the injured list.
  • NYY Center Fielder #78
Yankees recalled OF Spencer Jones from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
This move was announced on Wednesday and is now official. Jones intrigues people because he’s a huge man with impressive power and a .258/.366/.592 slash line with 11 homers, 41 RBI, and seven stolen bases in his first 142 plate appearances at Triple-A. However, Jones also has an astonishingly low 59 percent contact rate overall at Triple-A with a 32 percent strikeout rate. It’s incredibly difficult to be a starter at the MLB level if you make that little contact. Jones is 6'6", but he’s not Aaron Judge, despite what comparisons you might see. We would not pick up Jones unless you’re in a five-outfielder league, desperate for power, or in an OPS format. In addition to Jones’ contact issues, Giancarlo Stanton (calf) is not expected to be sidelined too much longer and would most likely take Jones’ spot on the roster.
  • NYY Left Fielder #24
Yankees placed OF Jasson Domínguez on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder AC joint sprain.
The Yankees announced on Wednesday that Domínguez would miss “a few weeks” with the injury, so this comes as no surprise. The other issue for Domínguez is that, by the time he’s healthy, Giancarlo Stanton should also be back with the Yankees. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues don’t need to hold onto Domínguez.
  • CWS Shortstop
White Sox SS prospect Jacob Gonzalez went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, and four RBI for Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.
The 2023 first-round pick seems to be coming into his own this season. Gonzalez has a .292/.408/.585 slash line with 10 home runs, 35 RBI, and five steals in 34 games at Triple-A. The 23-year-old had just eight home runs in 134 minor league games last season. He has played mainly shortstop this season, but has also started games at first base, second base, and third base, so the White Sox might be looking to find ways to bring him closer to his big league debut.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #35
Garrett Crochet (shoulder inflammation) is throwing on flat ground from 60 feet.
Crochet has been sidelined with shoulder inflammation since the end of April. His MRI showed no structural damage, so the left-hander will continue to ramp back up, and the Red Sox will determine next steps as they see how he feels once he’s back on the mound.
  • MIN Shortstop
Twins INF prospect Kaelen Culpepper went 2-for-5 with a home run, a stolen base, and four RBI for Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday.
The Twins’ top offensive prospect has now homered three times in his last four games, which gives him eight home runs on the year to go along with seven steals. In six games in May, he’s hitting .333/.481/.857 with three home runs, nine RBI, two steals, and a 1/5 K/BB ratio. Culpper has mainly played shortstop this season, but has also started five games at third base and two games at second base, so there are plenty of ways the Twins could get him up into their big league infield.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher
Red Sox recalled RHP Jack Anderson from Triple-A Worcester.
With Sonny Gray (hamstring) back, the Red Sox didn’t need another starting pitcher up with the big league team, so Jake Bennett was sent back to the minors and Anderson will occupy a multi-inning relief role in Boston’s bullpen.
  • CIN Shortstop #56
Reds INF prospect Edwin Arroyo went 5-for-7 with a triple, a home run, two runs scored, and four RBI in a doubleheader for Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.
Arroyo gets forgotten about a bit in Cincinnati, but he was a top 50 prospect in baseball, according to Baseball America, when he was traded, along with Noelvi Marte and Levi Stoudt, as part of the Luis Castillo trade in 2022. Arroyo, who is only 22 years old, is slashing .322/.398/.524 this season in 35 games at Triple-A with five home runs, 23 RBI, and five steals. What’s potentially more interesting is that the shortstop has recently played two games at third base, a position he has never played in the minors before. This could be a bit of a sign that the Reds are looking to find another option besides Ke’Bryan Hayes.
