Astros acquired RHP Jayden Murray in a three-team trade.
He came from the Rays in Monday’s three-team trade involving the Orioles. Murray is already 25 and just reached Triple-A, but he’s put up nice numbers in the minors.

Sal Stewart is starting at third base and batting third against the Nationals on Wednesday.
Stewart had a big game on Tuesday night as he looks to break out of his cold stretch. However, what’s more important here is that this could be a pathway to future playing time for him and the Reds. With Eugenio Suarez (oblique) nearing a return and Nathaniel Lowe hitting well, Stewart could see more time at third base when everybody is healthy at the expense of Ke’Bryan Hayes’ playing time.
Volpe only worth considering in deeper leagues
Eric Samulski unpacks why it "remains to be seen" if Anthony Volpe will keep hold of a spot on the Yankees' roster even if he performs well after being recalled.
  • CIN 1st Baseman #31
Nathaniel Lowe is starting at designated hitter and batting sixth for the Reds on Wednesday against the Nationals.
Despite being one of the better hitters on the Reds of late, Lowe has sat in each of the last two games. We know the Reds’ offense is struggling to find a rhythm right now, but Lowe deserves to remain in the batting order for the time being. He can be put right back into your fantasy lineups.
  • NYM Catcher #4
Mets placed C Francisco Alvarez on the 10-day injured list with a right meniscus tear.
Best-case scenario for a meniscus tear is typically 4-6 weeks, but it can be considerably longer, depending on how Alvarez and doctors want to address it surgically. Alvarez was hitting .241/.317/.393 with four homers, all of which came in his first 14 games of the season. He’s had just a .539 OPS in his last 23 games. The switch to Luis Torrens as a starting catcher won’t hurt the Mets, but they definitely will feel Alvarez’s absence when Torrens needs a day off and they have to turn to Hayden Senger.
  • NYM Catcher #6
Mets recalled C Hayden Senger from Triple-A Syracuse.
Senger will back up Luis Torrens for now. He got into 33 games for the Mets last season and hit .181/.221/.194 in 78 plate appearances.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #54
Max Fried left his start Wednesday due to left elbow posterior soreness and will undergo tests in New York on Thursday.
This is an unfortunate way for the Yankees to solve their rotation crunch, but assuming that Fried is going to spend some on the IL, it allows them to stick with a five-man group and still keep Will Warren and Ryan Weathers after Gerrit Cole is activated. Fried’s last big elbow scare came in 2023, when he missed about half of the season with a forearm strain. He also had a brief absence in 2024 with neuritis in the area.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #33
Reds signed RHP Chris Paddack to a one-year contract.
The Reds will pay Paddack the major league minimum while the Marlins cover the rest of his $4 million salary. Paddack has a 7.63 ERA in six starts and one relief appearance this season after coming in at 5.35 in 158 innings for the Twins and Tigers last year. He should remain awful for the Reds, but at least he’s stretched out and ready to go, which is what they need with Hunter Greene, Rhett Lowder and Brandon Williamson all shelved. According to The Athletic’s C. Trent Rosencrans, Paddack will start Saturday against the Guardians, with Andrew Abbott moving up to Friday.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #25
Reds placed RHP Rhett Lowder on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder pain.
Six days after leaving his start against the Cubs, Lowder finally lands on the IL. The Reds seem optimistic that he won’t be out for long. Lowder has a 5.40 ERA in eight starts this season, though he was at 3.18 before the last two of those.
  • CIN Catcher #96
Reds designated C P.J. Higgins for assignment.
Higgins went 2-for-10 in six games for the Reds last month before being sent down when Jose Trevino came off the IL. This move opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Chris Paddack.
  • BOS 1st Baseman #40
Willson Contreras is back at first base for the Red Sox in Wednesday’s game against the Phillies.
Contreras, who left Sunday’s game with a hand contusion, is hitting cleanup today. Mickey Gasper is staying in the lineup as the DH and No. 2 hitter, as the Red Sox have opted to give Ceddanne Rafaela the day off and play Masataka Yoshida in the outfield.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #54
Max Fried left Wednesday’s game after three innings with a likely injury.
As soon as Fried finished the third at 61 pitches, he went straight into the tunnel to the clubhouse and the Yankees got up Paul Blackburn in the pen, and it was Blackburn who showed up on the mound to start the fourth. Fried was charged with three runs before departing.
