The Twins took a chance on Archer last year as a low-cost reclamation project, but the decision didn’t pan out. The 34-year-old veteran right-hander finished with an underwhelming 4.56 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 84/48 K/BB ratio across 102 2/3 innings (25 starts). He’s unlikely to make an impact for fantasy managers at this advanced stage of his career.

When pressed to see how many at-bats he’s expected to receive before the postseason, Friedman just shrugged his shoulders. It sounds like the Dodgers want to get him a handful of at-bats next weekend, if possible, but their priority is to have him healthy and ready to go for the start of the postseason.

The 33-year-old hurler has struggled to a 7.76 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and a 25/11 K/BB ratio over 29 innings in seven appearances (six starts) since joining the White Sox, so the move makes plenty of sense as the White Sox desperately attempt to hold onto a playoff spot. Any lingering fantasy value that Castillo may have had in deeper leagues disappears with the move to the bullpen.

it’s the first chance for the 26-year-old right-hander to show the Mets what he can do after being claimed off of waivers from the Orioles earlier in the month. Weston made one MLB appearance during his time with the O’s, logging one scoreless inning. He’ll function in a middle relief role for the Mets.

Curry was blasted for six runs over three innings in Wednesday’s loss to the Orioles and since he wasn’t going to be available for a couple of days, the Mets opted to swap him out for a fresh bullpen arm. Cameron Weston was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move to take his place.

Pederson has yet to resume swinging a bat, though the swelling in his hand has finally subsided. He has been gripping a bat lightly to get some strength and movement back and the Rangers remain hopeful that he’ll be able to avoid a trip to the injured list.

The 31-year-old righty battled through tightness in his back during Sunday’s victory over the Diamondbacks, but it appears to have been only a minor issue. Expect him to have no workload limitations when he takes the hill against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Peters doesn’t normally sit against left-handers, but the White Sox have opted to work in all of their bench bats in this one with Peters, Colson Montgomery, Andrew Benintendi, Kyle Teel and Sam Antonacci all getting a breather in this one. Brenton Doyle will start in Peters’ place and will bat sixth against Tigers’ southpaw Framber Valdez.

Simpson is now ahead of Yordan Alvarez .311 to .310 in the race for the AL batting title, and he broke a tie with Bobby Witt Jr. for the AL lead in the steals, going from 42 to 44. He’s also upped his RBI total from 31 to 36 in his last four games. One wonders if the Rays might give him one more look in the leadoff spot, particularly since Yandy Díaz has not been doing a very good job of getting on base. The Rays, though, do like Simpson doing his running ahead of the bottom of the order.

Rasmussen needed only 76 pitches to secure his 15th win. He joins Nick Martinez there as the 11th and 12th 15-game winners in Rays history. Rasmussen is due to finish the regular season with a start against the Yankees next week. He could then face them again a week later, as everything is setting up for the Yankees and Red Sox to face off in a Wild Card series for the right to face the Rays.

The Tigers have been giving more of the playing time at second base to Hao-Yu Lee down the stretch as Torres is an impending free agent and they want to see what some of their younger players can do. The 29-year-old has started just twice in the last five games now and is likely to continue to see sporadic playing time over the final week and a half of the 2026 campaign.
