White Sox reassigned OF Victor Reyes, INF Moises Castillo, C Adam Hackenberg and RHPs Declan Cronin, Lane Ramsey and Jesse Scholtens to minor league camp.

Reyes has a decent amount of big league experience from his time with the Tigers, but he was always facing an uphill battle at a spot on the Opening Day roster. The 28-year-old hit .269 (7-for-26) with one RBI during Cactus League play.

Yankees signed C/1B Christian Bethancourt to a minor league contract.

Bethancourt winds up with the Yankees as emergency catching depth after being released by the Cubs last week. The 34-year-old journeyman hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since getting into 62 games between the Marlins and Cubs back in 2024. He hit 11 homers and stole five bases in 59 games for Triple-A Iowa earlier this season.

Kyle Schwarber is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Marlins.

It seems like a routine rest day for the veteran. Bryce Harper will be the designated hitter, with Alec Bohm moving to first base and Edmundo Sosa entering the lineup at third base and batting sixth.

Tigers activated SS/OF Javier Báez from the 60-day injured list.

Báez suffered a high ankle sprain at the end of April, so he has spent the vast majority of the season on the injured list. He’ll be off the injured list and right into the lineup, playing center field and batting ninth against the Orioles. The 33-year-old has a .256/.280/.397 slash line in 82 plate appearances this season.

Twins placed RHP Cole Sands on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow strain.

It’s a tough break for Sands, who was activated off the injured list on July 26th after missing over two months with a forearm strain. Sands made one appearance, allowing five runs on three hits in 1/3 of an inning before landing on the injured list with another injury, which seems very likely to be related to that first injury he may have never fully healed from.

Phillies activated C Garrett Stubbs (wrist) from the 10-day injured list

AJ Smith-Shawver (elbow) could start Game 1 of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Mets.

Chris Sale, who was supposed to start on Tuesday before the game was postponed, will start Game 2 of the doubleheader on Wednesday, but the Braves have not yet listed a starter for Game 1. It seems that Smith-Shawver, who threw 86 pitches on Thursday in his last rehab start for Triple-A Gwinnett, will be an option. That would either push Grant Holmes to Thursday or move him out of the rotaiton.

Spencer Horwitz has been diagnosed with a concussion.

Horwitz was working to return from a hamstring injury and seemed close to rejoining the Pirates lineup, but he was hit in the helmet over the weekend and has been diagnosed with a concussion. As of now, there is no timeline for his return from this second injury, but it seems that he won’t be back this week.
