  • FA Center Fielder #2
Yonathan Daza came off the bench in a second straight game Sunday, but he didn’t get an at-bat against the Diamondbacks.
Daza hasn’t gotten a start in a week, but at this point, it’s more because the Rockies want to give other players a chance than because of the hand contusion he suffered on an HBP. He’s likely to be a reserve for the foreseeable future.

  • SD Relief Pitcher #75
Robert Suarez fired a scoreless 10th to pick up a save against the Reds on Thursday.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #61
Matt Waldron didn’t factor into the decision Thursday against the Reds after allowing two runs over five innings with seven strikeouts.
Waldron gave up both of his runs in his first two innings before settling down quite nicely. The 27-year-old gave up six hits and two walks in another solid effort for the knuckleballer after scuffling in the early portion of the season. He’s absolutely worth streaming consideration; particularly in a start Tuesday against the Marlins.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #47
Frankie Montas was charged for four runs in six innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Thursday.
This could have gone a lot worse. Montas gave up all four runs in the first two innings, but he was effective enough to give Cincinnati — and fantasy managers — six innings despite allowing nine hits in the contest. The right-hander has been shaky at best for Cincinnati over the first third of the season with a 4.64 ERA over nine starts as evidence. He’ll try and lower that mark next week against the Cardinals.
  • NYY Catcher #39
Jose Trevino was removed from Thursday’s game against the Mariners due to illness.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters afterwards that Trevino wasn’t feeling well, which led to him being lifted for a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning of Thursday afternoon’s showdown. He’s presumably day-to-day for now.
  • TEX Right Fielder #53
Adolis Garcia hit a solo homer in a loss to the Phillies on Thursday.
Garcia took Zack Wheeler deep in the second inning. The 31-year-old slugger has gone deep a dozen times thus far in 2024 while driving in 36 runs over Texas’s first 51 games. He also drew a walk, and he’s now slashing .253/.300/.500. Garcia is a flawed player, but the power-production is going to make him relevant for a long time.
  • PHI Shortstop #33
Edmundo Sosa went 3-for-4 in a win Thursday over the Rangers.
Sosa hasn’t gotten much attention in 2024, but it’s probably time for that to change. The three-hit afternoon pushes the 28-year-old’s average up to .323, and he’s slugging .548 to show he’s not just dinking-and-dunking the baseball. It’s only a sample of 58 at-bats, but he’s likely earned more playing time based on what he’s done so far in 2024.
  • PHI Right Fielder #8
Nick Castellanos went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a 5-2 win for the Phillies on Thursday over the Rangers.
Castellanos extended the Phillies’ lead to 5-2 with a solo blast in the seventh inning. The veteran outfielder has been able to provide five homers thus far in 2024, and the pair of hits see his average increase to a still-disappointing .206 mark. Castellanos is a good bet to be (much) better over the final two-thirds of the 2024 campaign.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #23
Jeff Hoffman was able to throw a scoreless ninth to procure a save Thursday against the Rangers.
It’s the fourth save of the season for Hoffman. The 31-year-old has been outstanding in his relief role with the Phillies, as the scoreless frame lowers his ERA to 1.25. It’s never been a question about stuff with Hoffman, and he’s been able to apply his arsenal in the bullpen quite nicely. The only issue from a fantasy perspective is a lack of save chances.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #44
Andrew Heaney gave up four runs — three earned — over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Thursday.
Heaney allowed nine hits in the contest, and he also allowed two walks with just one strikeout. The southpaw has not been able to complete four innings in his last two starts, and he’s seen his ERA increase to 4.69 over his 10 starts. Heaney would be in danger of losing his rotation spot if the Rangers rotation was remotely healthy, but it’s not, so he’ll remain a shaky fantasy option for the next few turns.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #45
Zack Wheeler held the Rangers to two runs over seven innings while picking up a win Thursday.
Wheeler scattered five hits with two walks, and he struck out five. The blemishes on the scoreboard came on an Adolis Garcia homer in the second and an infield single by Ezekiel Duran in the seventh. Outside of that, it was another strong outing for the 33-year-old that sees him lower his ERA to 2.53 as he worked at least seven innings for the third time in four starts. He’s scheduled to get the Giants on Tuesday.
