Reds signed LHP Chasen Shreve to a minor league contract.
It didn’t take Shreve long to find a new opportunity after being released earlier this week by the Tigers. The 33-year-old lefty reliever has recorded an underwhelming 4.79 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and a 42/12 K/BB ratio across 41 1/3 innings (47 appearances) this season, but could find himself pitching out of Cincinnati’s bullpen rather quickly.

Mickey Moniak is on the bench for Monday’s contest against the Dodgers.
Moniak takes a seat with lefty Justin Wrobleski toeing the rubber for Los Angeles during Monday’s series opener at Coors Field. Jordan Beck takes over in left field with Tyler Freeman in the opposite corner. The 27-year-old outfielder is up to six round-trippers through 16 games after belting a career-high 24 over 135 games in his Rockies debut last year. He’s unexpectedly morphed into a potent power hitter after arriving in the big leagues a half-decade ago with almost zero over-the-fence pop.
Pick up Keller off waiver wire with Duran out
Eric Samulski dives into how the Phillies will approach replacing closer Jhoan Duran while on the 15-day IL with an oblique strain, pointing out Brad Keller is most likely to take his place.
  • SEA 2nd Baseman #7
Mariners selected the contract of INF Will Wilson from Triple-A Tacoma.
Wilson gets the nod to join Seattle’s active roster in a bench role with versatile Brendan Donovan heading to the injured list with a groin strain. The 27-year-old former first-round pick has bounced around the last couple seasons, but got into 34 games for the Guardians this past year.
  • SEA 2nd Baseman #33
Mariners placed 2B/3B Brendan Donovan on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 18, with a left groin strain.
It’s a tough break for the Mariners, and fantasy managers, since Donovan was off to a phenomenal start at the dish in his Seattle debut, slashing a robust .304/.437/.518 with three homers, eight RBI and one steal through 18 games. The versatile 29-year-old appears unlikely to require a lengthy absence since top prospect Colt Emerson wasn’t brought up to take over at third base. He’ll get some extra time off to put a lingering groin and hip issue to bed after implying that he believes they may be related to the sports hernia surgery he underwent last October. There should be a definitive return timetable at some point in the near future. It’ll be Leo Rivas taking over at the hot corner as a temporary stopgap in his absence.
  • SEA 3rd Baseman #21
Mariners transferred INF/OF Miles Mastrobuoni to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move opens up a spot on Seattle’s 40-man roster. Mastrobuoni has been on the shelf since suffering a calf strain while playing in last month’s World Baseball Classic.
  • PHI Catcher #10
J.T. Realmuto (back) remains out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Cubs.
There’s cause for concern here with Realmuto missing his second consecutive contest after exiting a game over the weekend with lower back tightness. Rafael Marchán will continue handling the catching duties for Philadelphia in his absence.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #66
Athletics recalled LHP Brady Basso from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Basso gets the call to join the Athletics’ relief mix ahead of Monday’s series opener against the Mariners after spending the first couple weeks of the year in the minors. The 28-year-old southpaw has compiled a serviceable 3.44 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 27/14 K/BB ratio across 34 innings at the highest level since 2024.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #63
Athletics optioned RHP Mason Barnett to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Barnett fired two scoreless frames in his lone relief appearance for the Athletics after being called up over the weekend. The 25-year-old righty figures to be up-and-down as a multi-inning long relief arm over the next few months.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #63
Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters Edwin Uceta has been diagnosed with a right shoulder strain and will be shut down from throwing for 2-3 weeks.
Cash clarified that it’s a new shoulder issue from the impingement that caused Uceta to hit the injured list at the conclusion of spring training. The 28-year-old high-leverage arm is facing an extended absence since he’ll need to re-start his throwing program from scratch next month. His absence gives Bryan Baker additional runway to cement himself as Tampa Bay’s ninth-inning option.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #44
Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters Ryan Pepiot (hip) felt instability while playing catch on Monday.
It’s not what you want to hear. Cash didn’t describe it as a setback, but it’s hardly an encouraging update as Pepiot figures to either be shut down from throwing to allow the right hip issue to subside or be sent for imaging to determine whether he’s dealing with any structural issues. The 28-year-old is on the injured list until at least late May and received an injection earlier this month to address inflammation. It’s extremely challenging to forecast when he’ll be ready to return to Tampa Bay’s rotation, but it doesn’t appear to be anytime soon.
  • CLE Right Fielder #24
Chase DeLauter is back in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Astros.
DeLauter has cooled off considerably over the past few weeks, hitting .163 (7-for-43) with zero homers in 13 games after launching five homers in his first seven games to open the season. The encouraging part here is that he’s walked nine times with only four strikeouts during that span. Some turbulence isn’t unexpected for a hitter getting their first taste of the big leagues, which is why fantasy managers need to stick with DeLauter, even if he’s going to take a seat against a few lefties later this week.
