Termarr Johnson was removed from Friday’s spring breakout game roster with a bone bruise on left foot.
Johnson will likely be out of action for the next few days at the very least. The 2022 first-round selection is expected to open the 2025 season with Double-A Altoona, but has an outside chance of helping the Pirates by the end of the year.
  • TEX Shortstop #76

Rangers re-signed SS Richie Martin to a minor league contract.
Martin provides the Rangers with some additional infield depth entering next season after hitting .258/.348/.369 with three homers and 25 steals in 303 plate appearances over 79 games for Triple-A Round Rock this past season. The soon-to-be 31-year-old journeyman got into 170 games for the Orioles from 2019-2022.
Kershaw: 'I'm just glad I got that last out'
Clayton Kershaw talks about how happy he was to end his career with a World Series win, if he was nervous pitching in relief during Game 3, what his retirement plans are, if he considered playing another year and more.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #63
Rangers re-signed RHP Trey Supak to a minor league contract.
Supak was a second-round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft and has yet to reach the big leagues. The 29-year-old hurler posted a solid 3.85 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 131/33 K/BB ratio over 128 1/3 innings over 26 starts between Double-A Friso and Triple-A Round Rock this past season. He’s merely organizational fodder at this stage of his career.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #59
Braves re-signed RHP Carlos Carrasco to a minor league contract.
Carrasco returns to the fold as emergency depth for Atlanta after compiling a bloated 7.09 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 34/17 K/BB ratio across 45 2/3 innings over 11 appearances (nine starts) between the Braves and Yankees last season. The long-time fixture in Cleveland’s rotation would be back for his 17th season in the big leagues if he makes it to Truist Park at some point next year.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #61
Braves re-signed RHP Darius Vines to a minor league contract.
Vines returns as organizational depth after missing all of last season due to an undisclosed injury. The 27-year-old righty holds an underwhelming 5.82 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 23/11 K/BB ratio across 34 innings over nine appearances (four starts) in the majors since 2023.
  • FA Center Fielder #0
Cubs OF Billy Hamilton elected free agency.
Hamilton heads back to the open market following a brief six-game late-season cameo for Triple-A Iowa. The 35-year-old speedster was brought in by the Cubs as a potential pinch-running specialist for their postseason run but didn’t end up making Chicago’s playoff roster. His game-changing speed gives him some lingering appeal as a pinch-running threat in the mold of a Terrance Gore for contenders.
  • FA 3rd Baseman #3
Yankees INF Jeimer Candelario elected free agency.
Arguably the highest-profile hitter to become a minor league free agent earlier this week, Candelario came to New York shortly after being released by the Reds in late June halfway through his three-year, $45 million contract. The 31-year-old infielder hit just .203/.289/.357 with seven homers in 61 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. His extensive track record should afford him another opportunity somewhere else this offseason.
  • FA Center Fielder #37
Red Sox OF Trayce Thompson elected free agency.
Thompson never made it to Fenway Park last season after signing a minor league pact with the Red Sox. The 34-year-old journeyman hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since the 2023 season. He should be able to latch on somewhere as emergency outfield depth after hitting .226/.312/.405 with 13 homers and 11 steals in 94 games for Triple-A Worcester this past season.
  • FA 3rd Baseman #64
Twins 1B/3B Jose Miranda elected free agency.
One of the biggest names to become a minor league free agent earlier this week, Miranda appeared in just 12 games for Minnesota this past season after tumbling down the depth chart after a pedestrian 2024 campaign where he batted .284/.322/.441 with nine homers and 49 RBI across 429 plate appearances in 121 games. At just 27 years old there’s probably another organization out there willing to gamble on the former prospect making swing adjustments and catching lightning in a bottle.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #70
Reds RHP Tejay Antone elected free agency.
There’s an alternate reality where Antone stays healthy and blossoms into one of the premier high-leverage arms in the game. Unfortunately, the 31-year-old’s promising career has been derailed by an avalanche of elbow issues since undergoing Tommy John surgery back in 2021. Simply put, his fastball velocity hasn’t rebounded following multiple elbow procedures. There’s likely to be an organization out there willing to kick the tires in spring training as a low-risk dice roll after he became a minor league free agent earlier this week.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #65
Dodgers RHP Giovanny Gallegos elected free agency.
Gallegos never made it to Los Angeles this past season after latching on as a minor league free agent and his fastball velocity hasn’t bounced back since dealing with shoulder issues during the 2024 campaign. The 34-year-old former high-leverage reliever could wind up getting a look somewhere this offseason after becoming a minor league free agent earlier this week.
