Rays placed OF Josh Lowe on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain.
Lowe told reporters Saturday that he’s been diagnosed with a Grade 2 oblique strain, which is more severe than the one he suffered last March that kept him sidelined for over two months. There isn’t an exact return timetable yet, but fantasy managers should anticipate the 27-year-old missing up to eight weeks, which would put him out until late May. It’ll be some combination of Kameron Misner, José Caballero and Jake Mangum filling the void in right field during his absence.

Hunter Brown (elbow) threw a bullpen on Tuesday and will start for Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday.
Brown was up to 44 pitches in his last rehab start and will probably try to push near 60 pitches in this one. If all goes well, we’d assume he makes one more rehab start before re-joining Houston’s rotation in about two weeks.
Reynolds putting together a solid season
Bryan Reynolds has been heating up as of late, with the two-time All-Star proving he still has plenty left in the tank for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
  • HOU Shortstop #28
Astros placed INF Braden Shewmake on the 10-day injured list with a right adductor strain
Shewmake was removed from Saturday’s game with groin tightness and will now find his way to the injured list. There is no timeline for his return, but it will give Brice Matthews a chance to take the starting second base job with Jose Altuve (oblique) also out. Matthews is starting at second base and batting eighth on Tuesday.
  • HOU Left Fielder #16
Astros recalled OF Zach Cole from Triple-A Sugar Land.
Cole hit .157 (8-for-51) with three homers and eight RBI in 53 plate appearances over 18 games in his latest stint with the Astros. He’ll likely just be up as a reserve outfielder this time.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #71
Astros activated LHP Josh Hader (biceps) from the 60-day injured list.
Hader has been out all season with shoulder and biceps issues, but he will return to Houston’s bullpen on Tuesday. The velocity readings on his last rehab appearances were not great, but that didn’t seem to bother the Astros. Fantasy managers should feel comfortable putting Hader back into their lineups, but maybe wait for a couple of appearances before dropping the other relievers in Houston’s bullpen.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher
YES Network’s Jack Curry reports that the Yankees are moving RHP prospect Carlos Lagrange to the bullpen at Triple-A.
There is no indication that this is a permanent move, but the Yankees believe that Lagrange’s triple-digit fastball could help their big league team as a reliever this season. The 23-year-old prospect has an 11.5 percent walk rate at Triple-A this season, so there’s a good chance that the bullpen could be his long-term home anyway, but we know it will be where he starts his MLB career, sometime over the summer. The shift to the bullpen does sap all of his fantasy value in redraft leagues.
  • KC 3rd Baseman #11
Maikel Garcia (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Reds.
This is now the third straight game that Garcia has missed. While it’s a good sign that the Royals haven’t put him on the injured list, we can’t help but remember him saying that he felt a pop when he was first hurt. We’re hopeful he will return to the lineup on Wednesday, but it’s hard to say for sure. Nick Loftin will start at third base and bat sixth on Tuesday.
  • NYY Right Fielder #99
Aaron Judge is not in the Yankees’ lineup on Tuesday against the Guardians.
It’s a bit curious because the Yankees were off on Monday, but there’s no indication that the 34-year-old is dealing with any injury. The Yankees are likely just looking to give him a bit of an extra breather. Jose Caballero will start in right field and bat eighth on Tuesday with Amed Rosario off the paternity list and batting cleanup while playing third base.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #36
Bailey Falter cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Omaha.
Falter has pitched just 9 2/3 innings for the Royals this season, allowing 15 runs on 24 hits while posting a 6/6 K/BB ratio. He’ll try to sort things out in the minor leagues.
  • KC Left Fielder #15
Royals claimed INF/OF Matthew Lugo off waivers from the Angels.
Lugo, a former second-round pick by the Red Sox back in 2019, was hitting .232/.243/.464 with four homers and nine RBI in 70 plate appearances over 31 games with the Angels this season. He can play all over the field and should provide organizational depth for the Royals at a few positions.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #34
Royals optioned RHP Eli Morgan to Triple-A Omaha.
Morgan had a solid first month of the MLB season, but he has struggled since being recalled from the minors for a second time. He now has a 5.51 ERA in 16 1/3 innings for the Royals this season. He’ll take some time in the minors to try to right the ship.
