Justin Slaten turned in a scoreless ninth with a two-run lead against the White Sox to pick up his third save Monday.
Manager Alex Cora had Aroldis Chapman face the top of the order in the eighth. Chapman gave up a homer to Andrew Benintendi and had Luis Robert Jr. reach when Jarren Duran dropped a flyball for an error, but he retired the other three batters he faced. Slaten then made quick work of the bottom of the order. Chapman remains the favorite for saves in Boston, but Cora is showing flexibility in how he uses his lefty, making Slaten and Garrett Whitlock roster options in deep leagues.

DL Hall leaves was removed from Thursday’s game against the Giants in the fifth inning due to an apparent injury.
It’s unsure exactly what occurred here, but Hall appeared to be in discomfort after delivering a pitch in the fifth inning. That prompted a visit from the training staff and after a lengthy discussion, the decision was made to pull the 27-year-old southpaw from the game. Look for the Brewers to provide an update on his status after the game concludes.
Tolle making a name for himself
Red Sox pitcher Payton Tolle is displaying the stuff to be a strong fantasy baseball option.

Grant Anderson was removed from Thursday afternoon’s battle against the Giants in the seventh inning after being struck in the right forearm by a line drive.
The afternoon went from bad to worse for the Brewers as Anderson was drilled in the arm by an 89.6 mph line drive off the bat of Bryce Eldridge. He’ll presumably head for imaging to rule out any potential fractures. Look for the Brewers to provide an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.
  • KC 2nd Baseman #6
Royals transferred INF/OF Jonathan India to the 60-day injured list.
Nothing has changed in the prognosis for India, who underwent season-ending shoulder surgery back at the end of April. This was done merely as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for the addition of Josh Rojas on Thursday.
  • KC 3rd Baseman #5
Royals selected the contract of INF Josh Rojas from Triple-A Omaha.
The 32-year-old infielder has been stationed at Triple-A Omaha this season, slashing .246/.309/.433 with six homers and 26 RBI across 189 plate appearances. He’ll add some depth to the Royals’ bench for at least a few days.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #32
Royals placed RHP Stephen Kolek on the family medical emergency leave list.
The 29-year-old hurler will be away from the team for at least a couple of games while he tends to a family emergency. Josh Rojas was promoted from Triple-A Omaha to take his place on the Royals’ active roster for Thursday’s showdown against the Twins.
  • HOU Catcher
Astros selected the contract of C Collin Price from Triple-A Sugar Land.
It’s the first trip to the big leagues for the 26-year-old backstop who was chosen in the sixth round of the 2022 draft class. Price has hit .235/.360/.476 with 10 homers, 26 RBI and four stolen bases in 200 plate appearances at Triple-A Sugar Land this season and should offer a bit more with the bat than Cesar Salazar did.
  • HOU Catcher #18
Astros designated C César Salazar for assignment.
The 30-year-old backstop had been functioning as the team’s primary backup behind Christian Vázquez with Yainer Diaz shelved, but he was just 1-for-18 (.056) with one RBI and a 3/3 K/BB ratio in his 22 plate appearances. Collin Price was promoted from Triple-A Sugar Land to take his spot on the team’s active and 40-man rosters.
  • HOU Left Fielder #16
Astros optioned OF Zach Cole to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Cole has struggled mightily in his limited action with the Astros this season, hitting .157/.189/.353 with three homers, eight RBI and a 21/1 K/BB ratio in his 53 plate appearances. LaMonte Wade was signed to a big league deal to take Cole’s spot on the club’s active roster on Thursday.
  • HOU Left Fielder
Astros designated OF Rhylan Thomas for assignment.
Thomas was just claimed off of waivers from the Mariners in mid-May, but he gets the boot from the Astros’ 40-man roster as they needed to free up a spot for the addition of LaMonte Wade Jr. on Thursday. The 26-year-old outfielder could once again drum up interest on waivers.
  • HOU Left Fielder #10
Astros activated OF Joey Loperfido from the 10-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Loperfido had been sidelined since April 18 due to a right quad strain. He had been on a minor league rehab assignment since May 23 and now will remain at Triple-A Sugar Land for the time being until a need for his services arises at the Major League level.
