Clay Holmes limited the Astros to one run in four innings and struck out four on Sunday.
Holmes allowed three hits and walked one while getting up to 63 pitches today. Of Team USA’s WBC starters, Holmes might be best equipped to deliver a five-inning outing during the tournament.

George Kirby worked 5 2/3 innings while allowing just one run in a win over the Rangers on Saturday.
It’s the first win for Seattle over Texas in their five games, and the third win of the season for Kirby. He did allow 10 balls in play that registered as hard hits, but he was able to strike out five while generating a strong 14 swings and misses before exiting in the sixth. Kirby’s command still isn’t at the level we’ve grown accustomed to seeing, but it’s nice to see some whiffs. He’ll gets the Cardinals in St. Louis on Friday.
Baldwin scorching to start the season for Atlanta
James Schiano discusses Drake Baldwin's hot start to the season and the metrics that show why he may challenge Cal Raleigh for the best hitting catcher.

Chris Sale limited the Phillies to one run over seven innings and struck out seven in the Braves’ 3-1 victory Saturday.
Sale was in total control tonight, throwing 73 of his 101 pitches for strikes. He allowed five hits, but only four hard-hit balls, none of which checked in at over 99 mph. Even the homer against him was just a 348-footer. The win makes him 4-1 with a 2.79 ERA. He’s due to face the Nationals on Thursday.

Cristopher Sánchez took a tough loss Saturday after allowing three unearned runs in six innings against the Braves.
Sánchez retired the first two batters in the third before a single, an error, a walk and two more singles did him in. The first run-scoring single was a tapper to the right of the mound that Sánchez fielded before losing his footing. It would have been a tough play anyway for the left-hander. The last hit was a fly to shallow center that Brandon Marsh had no play on. Those were all the runs the Braves needed today. Sánchez was fantastic in striking out eight, and that walk to Matt Olson was the only one he issued on the day. Still, he’s now 2-2 in spite of a 1.59 ERA. He’ll face the Cubs on Thursday.
  • ATL 2nd Baseman #14
Mauricio Dubón had a go-ahead two-run single in the third inning of the Braves’ win over the Phillies on Saturday.
Dubón’s fly that dropped in front of Brandon Marsh in center ended the scoring for the night in the 3-1 game. Dubón is hitting .315/.359/.479 while getting regular playing time with Ha-Seong Kim out. As of right now, Braves fans would probably want him to keep playing regularly after Kim returns. Still, the offense figures to decline; he was a lifetime .257/.295/.374 hitter coming into 2026.
  • PHI 1st Baseman
Making his major league debut, Felix Reyes homered in his first at-bat off Chris Sale for the Phillies’ only run Saturday against the Braves.
Reyes’s homer was hit 348 feet to the opposite field. He had six homers in 18 games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley before being called up today. The 25-year-old’s outfield defense is a problem and he’s not going to walk at all, but the Phillies really need the offense and will give him some time against lefties for now.

Robert Suarez was used instead of Raisel Iglesias in the ninth and struck out two against the Phillies for his first save Saturday.
That Suarez didn’t come in for the eighth tonight suggested that something was up, but it was Iglesias who wasn’t apparently unavailable, not Suarez himself. Iglesias hasn’t pitched since Wednesday, so something must be wrong. We’ll probably find out soon, but those playing in leagues with Suarez available might just want to grab him now.

The Mets are going to start Tobias Myers instead of David Peterson against the Cubs on Sunday.
Peterson is still likely to pitch in a bulk role. Myers has topped out at three innings so far, throwing a total of 13 innings with a 3.46 ERA in six appearances. This seems like good news for those intending to use Peterson on Sunday, since it makes it more likely he’ll earn a win. It might not be great news for Peterson’s long-term value, though, just because the Mets seem rather down on him at this point.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #32
Gavin Williams fanned 11 while pitching seven innings of one-run ball in the Guardians’ 4-2 win over the Orioles on Saturday.
Williams topped his previous season high of 10 strikeouts, falling one short of matching his career high. With his sweeper proving dominant, he had 18 whiffs and a 41 percent CSW, and aside from a Leody Taveras homer, most of the hard contact against him resulted in groundouts. He’ll take a 3-1 record and a 2.12 ERA into his next start in Toronto.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher #36
Cade Smith struck out the side in the ninth for his fifth save Saturday against the Orioles.
Smith got six whiffs in setting down Dylan Beavers, Colton Cowser and Leody Taveras. He’s now 5-for-7 saving games.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #64
Dean Kremer yielded three runs in six innings Saturday in a loss to the Guardians.
Kremer fanned seven and allowed just two hits, but one of those two was a three-run homer from Brayan Rocchio. Last time out, he fanned nine but gave up three homers to the D-backs. It’s encouraging that he’s missing bats, so it he starts keeping the ball in the yard — and he’s typically been pretty average in the regard — he might be a mixed-league option at some point. He’ll face the Red Sox next weekend.
