Dustin May allowed one run on four hits in five innings against the Nationals on Tuesday.
He also struck out three and walked one while posting a 20 percent whiff rate and 20 percent CSW. You rarely see a pitcher get just seven called strikes in five full innings of work, but that’s what May did today. The right-hander threw 55 strikes on the day today, and the Nationals swung at 46 of them. Perhaps Washington was simply being aggressive, or perhaps May wasn’t really fooling hitters, which might be why Washington had eight hard-hit balls. Regardless, he maintained his fastball velocity throughout the outing, which is good news. That puts him on the fantasy radar, but until we start seeing consistent whiffs, it’s hard to get too excited.

Zack Wheeler delivered a dominant performance during Sunday’s victory over the Pirates, piling up eight strikeouts over seven innings of shutout baseball.
The 35-year-old right-hander scattered just four hits and one walk in the brilliant effort. The Pirates only had one runner reach second base against him, as Brandon Lowe doubled with two outs in the sixth inning. He got 13 whiffs on 98 pitches on the day — nine of them on his fastball which averaged 96.3 mph — while posting a solid CSW of 27 percent. He has been great through his first five starts, going 3-0 with a 1.99 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and a 30/7 K/BB ratio across 31 2/3 innings.
Sheets jumps on first pitch to put Padres up early
Gavin Sheets jumps all over George Kirby's first-pitch fastball to put the Padres up early over the Mariners on Sunday Night Baseball at T-Mobile Park.
  • PIT Catcher #32
Henry Davis went 0-for-3 with a strikeout as the Pirates were shut out by Zack Wheeler and the Phillies on Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh.
As a team, the Pirates were only able to muster four hits in the contest, so the fault wasn’t all on Davis in this one. He is having an abysmal season at the plate though, slashing a cringe-inducing .141/.248/.239 with two homers and eight RBI in 106 plate appearances.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #30
Paul Skenes had a rough afternoon during Sunday’s loss to the Phillies, giving up five runs on six hits across five-plus innings of work.
On the plus side for fantasy managers, Skenes racked up seven strikeouts on the day while allowing only one base on balls. He kept the Phillies off the board for the first four innings, but they scratched out a pair to take the lead in the fifth inning and added three more while chasing Skenes in the sixth. He got 10 swings and misses on 92 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 25 percent. Now 6-3 on the season, he’ll bring a terrific 2.62 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and a 63/8 K/BB ratio (55 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Blue Jays in Toronto.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #82
Cubs claimed RHP Christian Roa off waivers from the Orioles; optioned him to Triple-A Iowa.
Roa is on to his fourth organization of the year. He got into seven games with the Astros earlier this season, posting a 5.19 ERA.
  • BAL Shortstop #2
Gunnar Henderson went 4-for-5 with a homer, double and two RBI on Sunday afternoon, leading the Orioles to a 7-3 victory over the Nationals.
Henderson got the party started in the top half of the first inning with a 397-foot (106.7 mph EV) solo shot off of Richard Lovelady. He then capped off the scoring in the contest with an RBI single in the ninth. His bat has started to show signs of life, raising his season slash to .214/.269/.423 to go along with 10 homers, 24 RBI and six stolen bases.
  • BAL Center Fielder #17
Colton Cowser went 1-for-4 and belted his first home run of the season as the Orioles triumphed over the Nationals on Sunday afternoon in Washington.
Cowser connected on a 394-foot (113.3 mph EV) two-run shot off of Miles Mikolas in the fourth inning that increased the Orioles’ advantage to 6-1. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the day. He has had a very rough go at the plate, slashing .173/.269/.235 with just the one home run and nine RBI in 94 plate appearances.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #63
Brandon Young wasn’t at his best in a no-decision against the Nationals on Sunday, giving up two runs on five hits in just 3 2/3 innings.
Young also issued three free passes on the day while striking out three. He served up a solo homer to Jacob Young in the second inning, then the Nationals scratched out another run while chasing him in the fourth inning. The 27-year-old righty generated 11 whiffs on 70 pitches in the game — six of those on his heater — while posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll carry a 4.25 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and a 22/14 K/BB ratio (29 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Tigers.
  • WSH Center Fielder #30
Jacob Young went 1-for-2 and swatted a solo home run as the Nationals fell to the Orioles on Sunday afternoon in Washington.
The 26-year-old outfielder got the Nats on the board in the second inning with a 390-foot (103.4 mph EV) solo shot off of Brandon Young. On the season, he’s now slashing .224/.275/.353 with five homers, 21 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 168 plate appearances.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #36
Miles Mikolas struggled in a bulk role against the Orioles on Sunday afternoon, giving up four runs on six hits over his 5 2/3 innings of work.
The veteran right-hander punched out four batters in the contest while allowing just one base on balls. Most of the damage done against him came via the long ball as Coby Mayo took him deep in the second inning and Colton Cowser got him for a two-run blast in the fourth. Mikolas got five swings and misses on 93 pitches in the ballgame, posting an underwhelming CSW of 23 percent. He’ll try to improve upon a disappointing 6.91 ERA and 1.49 WHIP when he takes on the Braves in Atlanta on Friday.
  • AZ Right Fielder #7
Corbin Carroll launched his sixth and seventh homers as the Diamondbacks topped the Rockies 8-6 on Sunday.
Carroll didn’t need Coors Field’s help on 112- and 103-mph homers today. He also walked and scored a third run in the contest. It’s his ninth career two-homer game and first of 2025 after he had four last season. Carroll is hitting .278/.390/.543, placing him 11th in MLB with a .933 OPS.
