Donovan is day-to-day. Leo Rivas might be needed to start in his place Saturday against the Rangers.

This comes just two days after the Marlins said that Paddack was going to make his next turn in the rotation. Turns out, posting a 7.34 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 30 2/3 innings is not what Miami had in mind for the final spot in their rotation. In the immediate, they will call up a reliever to give them an extra arm in the bullpen, but another starter will be joining the rotation on Friday. While everybody wants it to be Robbie Snelling, and he is an option, fellow left-hander Braxton Garrett is actually on the 40-man roster and has a 1.71 ERA in five Triple-A starts this year. We would bet that Garrett gets the call on Friday, but it’s undecided for now.

DiGiovanna covered the Angels for decades when he was working with The Times, so it would make sense for him to still have sources connected to the organization. A multiple-month absence for shoulder inflammation is also not an unrealistic outcome, so much of this makes sense. The Angels have not yet confirmed any timeline for Kikuchi, but if he were to miss an extended period of time, Caden Dana would figure to get a chance to stick in the rotation until Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) or Alek Manoah (finger) make their season debut.

DeJong was with the Yankees to begin the season but opted out of his contract at the end of April after not getting any MLB at-bats. With Javier Baez (ankle) sidelined, DeJong has a chance to push for sporadic playing time in Detroit. The veteran was hitting .213/.359/.541 in 22 games at Triple-A with six home runs and 13 RBI.

Kim played his first game of the season at Double-A Columbus on Wednesday and will now move up a level. He did not get any spring training after tearing a tendon in his finger in the offseason, so he will likely need at least a week at Triple-A before potentially joining Atlanta.

Edwards Jr. initially elected free agency but eventually agreed on a minor league deal to stay with the Mets. He has registered a 1.50 ERA with an 11/4 K/BB ratio across six MLB innings this season.

Diaz was scratched from Monday’s lineup with a left abdominal injury. The exact severity of the injury, and a definitive return timetable, remain undisclosed. There should be a clearer update on his status prior to Tuesday’s contest. Fantasy managers should anticipate a multi-week absence, even in a best-case scenario.

Crawford isn’t much of a shortstop these days and the power outbursts are rather few and far between, but at least he does get on base at a nice clip. That’s especially been the case this year, as his 22 walks in 28 games have left him with a .367 OBP. He’ll return to the bottom third of the Seattle lineup after Brendan Donovan returns, so there isn’t much fantasy potential here.

Gilbert didn’t allow any runs besides the solo homers, so he became the 149th pitcher in MLB history to win after giving up four homers. The last was the Dodgers’ Tony Gonsolin last May. Three Seattle pitchers had accomplished the feat: Ryan Franklin in 2003, Joel Pineiro in 2005 and Bryce Miller in 2023. Gilbert is now 2-3 with a 4.30 ERA on the season. He’ll likely face the White Sox on Sunday.

Muñoz gave up a single to Dominic Smith with two outs, but he then got Drake Baldwin to ground out to end the game. It’s his seventh save in nine tries to open the year.

Ritchie walked four and allowed three hits over the first five innings, but he kept the Mariners scoreless until the sixth, when he walked two and then gave up a three-run homer to Luke Raley. That ended his evening at 93 pitches, only 47 of which were strikes. With a 13/12 K/BB through 17 1/3 innings, he certainly can’t be recommended in his next start Sunday against the Dodgers.
