Yandy Díaz (oblique) is batting fourth and DHing against the Blue Jays on Monday.
Díaz had missed two straight games with an oblique injury, but he’s back in there on Monday, so it seems we’ve avoided the worst for now. He can be fired up with confidence this week.

Giants recalled 1B Bryce Eldridge from Triple-A Sacramento.
It’s official. Eldridge is at DH and hitting seventh in his season debut against the division-rival Padres on Monday night at Oracle Park. The power-hitting 21-year-old top prospect struggled in his first taste of the big leagues last year, but he’s one of the most intriguing potential middle-of-the-order impact hitters to come through the minors in a few years. He’ll need to prove he can make enough contact and get to his immense raw power frequently enough to matter for fantasy purposes. He’s more of a deep-league lottery ticket at the moment, but he’s the type of elite talent that could make a leap very quickly if everything comes together for him.
Hold Skubal in fantasy for now amid elbow surgery
Eric Samulski dissects Tarik Skubal's move to the 15-day IL for an elbow surgery and looks at past examples to explain why he's going to wait a week before making any concrete fantasy decisions.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #72
Giants recalled RHP Trevor McDonald from Triple-A Sacramento.
McDonald draws the starting assignment for Monday’s series opener against the division-rival Padres in his season debut after posting a lackluster 5.40 ERA and 15/9 K/BB ratio across 15 innings at Triple-A Sacramento this season. The 25-year-old righty has made four appearances for the Giants over the last three years. He’s not a recommended fantasy option.
  • SF Catcher #79
Giants recalled C Jesus Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento.
Rodriguez will get his first look in the majors after spending time at a couple different positions at Triple-A this season. The 24-year-old backstop came over from the Yankees in the Camilo Doval trade last year and profiles as a versatile bench option for San Francisco.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #68
Giants placed LHP Erik Miller on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 1, with a low back strain.
Miller hits the shelf after recording a pair of saves to go along with a strong 3.18 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 17/6 K/BB ratio across 11 1/3 innings this season. The 28-year-old southpaw doesn’t figure to miss a ton of time, but back issues can be complicated, and often recurring, matters to deal with.
  • SF Left Fielder #7
Giants optioned OF Will Brennan to Triple-A Sacramento.
Brennan gets caught up in a roster crunch as San Francisco brings up top prospect Bryce Eldridge and a couple other players from Triple-A Sacramento. The 28-year-old outfielder has gone hitless in nine at-bats for the Giants this season.
  • SF Right Fielder #19
Giants designated OF Jerar Encarnacion for assignment.
Encarnacion has always been a fascinating talent given his massive frame and stratospheric raw power. He’s struggled to gain any traction at the highest level in recent years and the Giants are finally moving on to give top prospect Bryce Eldridge a sustained opportunity in the majors. The 28-year-old slugger was hitting just .176 (6-for-34) with zero homers in 35 plate appearances over 17 games this season.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #37
Mariners recalled LHP Josh Simpson from Triple-A Tacoma.
Simpson was up with the Mariners, but didn’t end up making an appearance, earlier this season. The 28-year-old lefty made 31 relief appearances for the Marlins last year in his first taste of the big leagues. He’ll operate in middle relief situations for Seattle while veteran lefty Gabe Speier is on the shelf with a shoulder injury.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #55
Mariners placed LHP Gabe Speier on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 3, with left shoulder inflammation.
No word yet regarding how much time Speier will miss, but shoulder ailments tend to result in lengthy trips to the injured list. The 31-year-old lefty holds aa strong 2.92 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 12/5 K/BB ratio across 12 1/3 innings over 15 appearances this season.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #43
Mariners optioned RHP Cole Wilcox to Triple-A Tacoma.
Wilcox heads back to the minors after posting a pedestrian 5.40 ERA and 15/12 K/BB ratio across 13 1/3 innings over 11 appearances this season.
  • BOS Left Fielder #19
Roman Anthony made an early exit from Monday’s game against the Tigers with an apparent injury.
Anthony was checked on by Boston’s training staff following an awkward swing during his first at-bat of the contest. He appeared to be dealing with some apparent right hand or wrist discomfort. He managed to remain in the contest initially before being replaced by Masataka Yoshida in left field. There should be an update on his status shortly. It’s obviously an extremely concerning development for the Red Sox, and fantasy managers.
