John Collins started out his season with numbers that would be fine in a vacuum — 15.9 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.0 bpg and 1.0 3s in his first 15 games — but they were not the numbers that we were expecting when we took him, on average, with a top-25 pick.
(And let’s be honest, some of us — including those with a pro-ATL bias — took him notably earlier than that.)
Lately, we have seen something resembling vintage Collins back in our lives at last. Over his last nine games, he has put up 22.8 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 1.1 bpg and 2.2 3s, shooting an out-of-this-world 59.9 / 46.5 / 91.3 during that same stretch.
On the latest episode of the Roundball Stew radio hour, I’m joined by Steve Alexander and Ryan Knaus to discuss Collins’s return to form, Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s sudden spike in FT shooting, some cause for concern for Anthony Davis – and more.
