WR Notes: Already 56.5 percent of the way to his 2021 yardage total, Tyreek Hill is averaging the most yards per route run since the dawn of the PFF era. Now he is getting his quarterback back against a Steelers defense missing a handful of starters in the secondary. … Ja’Marr Chase finally began the regression to his elite mean in Week 6. Week 7 opponent Atlanta is permitting the second most passing yards. … It’s the ground where the Texans really get smashed, but they don’t exactly cover themselves in glory through the air. Derek Carr is learning there is no wrong time to target Davante Adams. … Up to 19 targets over the past two weeks, Deebo Samuel is a good bet for 10-plus looks as Jimmy Garoppolo tries to keep pace with Patrick Mahomes. … CeeDee Lamb averaged 10 targets in five games without Dak Prescott. Now his quarterback is not only back but returning against what could be the worst overall defense in the league in Detroit. … Just as the Falcons are a plus matchup for Ja’Marr Chase, the same is true for Tee Higgins. Despite his ankle issues, Higgins has reached nine targets in 3-of-4 games.

At some point, Tom Brady is going to throw touchdowns again. Keeping his yardage floor high, Mike Evans will be the biggest beneficiary once TB12 inevitably starts posting more than one score. … Just as Evans should soon have touchdowns return to his life, the same is true of PPR monster Chris Godwin. I would expect all involved to take out some of their recent frustrations on the crumbling Panthers. … Battling through both shoulder and groin issues, Jaylen Waddle is expected to suit up against the Steelers’ injury-depleted secondary. … Freed from Patrick Surtain jail, Mike Williams will have renewed big-play opportunities against a Seahawks secondary allowing 8.3 yards per attempt despite a supposed commitment to eliminating chunk gains. Williams will be dealing with the return of Keenan Allen (hamstring), but that means more for Josh Palmer than Williams at this point. It’s also unclear if Allen will be ready for his typical complement of snaps after being sidelined since Week 1. … This feels low for Amon-Ra St. Brown coming off the Lions’ bye. I just worry about the Cowboys’ ferocious pass rush eliminating the Lions’ entire offense. As Bill Belichick has shown, it can be done.

Michael Pittman‘s 16 Week 6 targets were tied for the fifth most by any wideout all season. Awesome, though quite possibly a game-plan specific anomaly with Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines both sidelined. The running backs are back for Week 7, though the way to beat Tennessee is through the air. … The Chargers’ defense still isn’t improving under supposed “defensive mind” Brandon Staley. J.C. Jackson was bad enough to get benched in Week 6. Enter DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, who are smarting from their Week 6 erasure at the hands of Kliff Kingsbury, who has somehow made a season of taking away elite wideouts. Their Week 7 fortunes are much improved for this 50-totaled hoedown. … It’s already getting into scary season. Courtland Sutton‘s fortunes had been declining but they did not fully disintegrate until Monday evening’s fiasco in Los Angeles. Even with Russell Wilson (hamstring) going off the deep end and perhaps not even playing this week, Sutton’s pedigree keeps him in the WR16-18 range. … Amari Cooper‘s mammoth target totals are reliably producing touchdowns. For when he doesn’t score, the yardage has been just enough.

Scoring and consistently drawing 8-10 targets, Allen Lazard has done the seeming impossible and forced his way into the WR2 mix. … Invisible for the better part of a month, Christian Kirk will be tangling with a Giants defense allowing the fewest receiver fantasy points. Kirk’s red zone usage — nine targets inside the 20 — do make him a decent touchdown bet. … The targets just aren’t mattering for Diontae Johnson. George Pickens is the only Steelers wideout showing ceiling while it has been Chase Claypool elevating his floor. The Dolphins are a plus receiver matchup, but I can no longer rank Johnson on his target share alone. Pickens and Claypool are both Week 7 interesting despite an uninspiring total (45.0). …It’s important to remember that DeAndre Hopkins was not very good during his injury-plagued 2021, but he has gone from the suspended list to being the only show in town for Arizona. Coach Kliff Kingsbury has said trade acquisition Robbie Anderson‘s role will be “very limited” if he is active for Thursday night’s game against the Saints. Managers can count on at least 6-8 looks for Hopkins against the Saints’ Marshon Lattimore-less defense.

Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) remain sidelined, but it is difficult to elevate Chris Olave against a Cardinals defense that has made a 2022 habit of eliminating the opposing team’s No. 1 wideout. It certainly does not help that check-down artist Andy Dalton has now joined potential Week 7 starter Jameis Winston in having a balky back. … With Carson Wentz (hand) sidelined, the Curtis Samuel joy ride is probably ending for the time being. Taylor Heinicke has extensive experience coaxing WR23 efforts out of Terry McLaurin. … It is a perfectly acceptable week to point chase with Brandon Aiyuk as the Niners desperately try to keep up with the Mahomeses. … Jakobi Meyers has yet to post fewer than four catches or 55 yards. … Speaking of point chasing, I’ll do so with Alec Pierce and his surprisingly steady target totals, even if his Week 6 target share left something to be desired. My guess is Pierce’s role is sticky regardless of how many overall attempts the Colts dial up. … There is a chance Rondale Moore easily out-targets a returning DeAndre Hopkins. … I would rather be a week too early on Wan’Dale Robinson than a week too late. His targets case simply makes too much sense.
