    Steelers restructured DK Metcalf’s contract.

It’s a simple restructure, converting base salary into a signing bonus. Per ESPN’s Field Yates, the move creates nearly $18 million in cap space for Pittsburgh. The transaction could be an indication that the Steelers need cap space for another move, but it’s much more likely that the team simply wants flexibility down the road. Metcalf remains signed through the 2029 season.

Metcalf managed just three receptions through the first three-plus quarters of play before making two grabs for 50 yards on the team’s penultimate possession, eventually resulting in a tie game with under two minutes to play following a successful two-point conversion. Even though this marks the third game in four tries with nine or more targets, Week 4 was the first game with more than 40 yards for Metcalf as he works to strengthen his connection with Rodgers in a downfield role. In fact, Metcalf more than doubled his year-to-date yardage total from the previous three games against two of the better coverage corners in the league. The individual matchup doesn’t get much easier ahead of a Week 5 meeting with the Colts, who boast another top corner duo in Sauce Gardner and Charvarius Ward. Metcalf remains a wide range of outcomes weekly WR3.

Metcalf has yet to crack 40 yards in a game this season, but he did manage to find the end zone for a six-yard touchdown late in the third quarter. The big plays have not been there for Metcalf thus far, who has a long catch of 16 yards. Metcalf will be on the WR3/WR4 radar for next week’s game against the Browns.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #4
Metcalf had an inefficient day, finishing fifth on the Steelers in yards despite leading the team in targets. He was unable to get open downfield and Aaron Rodgers’ struggles made many intermediate targets fell incomplete. Metcalf dropped a critical third-down pass in the third quarter, continuing his drop issues from last week. A second straight inefficient week despite a high volume of targets makes Metcalf a rough fantasy play moving forward. Despite Michael Pittman’s absence, the fantasy points are just not consistent for Metcalf in the Steelers passing game. He will be a low-end fantasy WR3 for Week 3 against the Bengals.

Pittman did not practice at all this week. If he plays, he could be fairly limited. We tentatively expect him to be inactive on game day, though. Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth had a solid role last week and could take on No. 2 pass-catcher duties if Pittman indeed cannot play. Steelers WR DK Metcalf will almost assuredly take on a larger role, operating as the team’s receiving focal point.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #4
Metcalf caught just 4-of-10 targets in Week 1 and was flagged twice for offensive pass interference while struggling to make contested catches. It wasn’t ideal. But Rodgers’ words should sooth any thought of bumping Metcalf down the ranks just yet. “I’m not worried about DK at all, man,” Rodgers said.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #4
It could have been a much bigger day for Metcalf, who dropped an easy 20-yard catch over the middle of the field and also a potential long touchdown pass. The touchdown pass would have been a difficult grab in tight coverage, but it did hit him in the hands. Metcalf ran a route on every dropback for the Steelers, but Aaron Rodgers continued to show that he’s far more comfortable over the middle of the field than deep down the field at this point in his career. That will continue to make Metcalf a TD-dependent option in fantasy.

This was always though to be the case, with the team’s decision to keep only six receivers through cuts Sunday seemingly backing that notion up. Pryor adds that the teams is expected to “ease in” both Metcalf and Pittman, but it certainly sounds as if each receiver will be on the field in less than two weeks for Week 1.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #4
Metcalf hasn’t practiced since suffering an undisclosed injury on August 8th, but the veteran receiver said last week that he expects to be ready for Week 1 against the Falcons. The Steelers saw several key players return to Monday’s practice, along with WR Michael Pittman, who had also been sidelined with an undisclosed injury since August 8th.

Metcalf chose not to reveal details on the injury that has kept him sidelined for a week and a half. He simply said there are no long-term concerns, and he expects to be good to go for the season opener. Hopefully, he begins ramping up before long. Metcalf is a borderline WR3/FLEX, competing for the team’s top wide receiver role with WR Michael Pittman this year.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #11
Pittman has been sidelined for a week and a half. According to Penn Live’s Nick Farabaugh, Pittman is only dealing with a minor hamstring strain, though. The veteran wide receiver currently profiles as a borderline WR3/FLEX this year, playing for a new team for the first time in his career.

Jets TE Mason Taylor (thumb) is practicing in full for Week 5 against the Browns.

Taylor’s return could be problematic for rookie TE Kenyon Sadiq. Sadiq posted a 7/105/1 receiving line two weeks ago before goose-egging last week. Taylor is not a serious receiving threat, but he can eat into Sadiq’s snap share. Sadiq likely remains a viable TE1, but his volatility just increased a tad.

Tony Pollard (foot) did not practice Wednesday.

The Titans have given Pollard Wednesday off in back-to-back weeks. He was removed from the injury report entirely on Friday both times. This week should be no different. Pollard has 39 touches over the past two weeks. Even on a struggling Titans offense, that’s enough work to put him on the RB2/3 border for Week 5.

Isaiah Likely (knee/groin) was limited on Wednesday.

Likely evidently got a little banged up while handling a second-high 12 targets last week. His early-week participation puts him on track to face the Commanders in Week 5, but new injuries are worth keeping an eye on. He is a TE1 if active this week.

Chris Bell (knee) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.

The Dolphins have been managing Bell’s practice reps for a few weeks, but it hasn’t been an issue on Sundays. He ran 85 percent of the routes in Week 4 and his route share has gone up in every game. He is in the WR5 range headed into Week 5 versus the Bengals.

Cam Skattebo (shoulder) was limited on Wednesday.

Skattebo was participating in a red non-contact jersey today. His limited participation puts him on track to play in Week 5 against the Commanders, but this is obviously worth tracking. The Giants’ starting running back has handled reliably larger workloads this season. Hopefully, he is feeling up to the task again on Sunday.

Tee Higgins (adductor/neck) did not practice Wednesday.

Head coach Zac Taylor told reporters before practice that Higgins would be listed as limited. Not only did he not practice, but the team listed him with a neck injury on top of his adductor issue. He went down with the adductor injury late in Cincy’s Week 4 loss to the Jags. It’s unclear when the neck issue cropped up. With multiple injuries holding him out of practice, Higgins looks unlikely to play in Week 5. With Ja’Marr Chase potentially out as well, Dohnte Meyers could be Joe Burrow No. 1 receiver this week. He should be added in all fantasy formats.

Malik Nabers (knee) did not practice on Wednesday.

Earlier today, The Athletic’s Dan Duggan reported that Nabers sat in the rehab section, speaking with the team’s head trainer during individual drills before seemingly going through some sort of rehab routine. ESPN’s Jordan Raanan then reported that Nabers said he was feeling “more sore than usual,” and “did as much as he could at practice.” When asked whether this could affect his ability to play in Week 5 against the Commanders, Nabers said, “we’ll see,” adding that it usually gets better as the week progresses. We tentatively expect Nabers to play, though this is worth monitoring closely.

Tanor Bortolini (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.

Sedrick Van Pran-Granger would take Bortolini’s starting spot at center if the latter is unable to suit up on Sunday. With Daniel Jones already struggling to start the year, a banged-up offensive line is not what he needs to get things going in the right direction. Pran-Granger has two career starts since entering the league in 2024.

Alvin Kamara (back) was not seen practicing on Wednesday.

Kamara briefly left the Saints’ Week 4 game against the Falcons to deal with a knee injury. Today, he is sidelined by a back injury. It’s perhaps unsurprising for a 31-year-old player who has clearly lost a step at this point in his career. He is backed up by Kendre Miller and CJ Donaldson. Either player can be stashed in 12-team formats.

Bears LG Joe Thuney (pectoral) did not practice on Wednesday.

Bears RG Jonah Jackson (ankle) and RT Darnell Wright (ankle) also sat out. Starting LT Braxton Jones (knee) is currently on injured reserve. This unit is worth watching this week.
