ESPN’s Tim McManus reports that the Eagles are preparing to play without DeVonta Smith (hamstring) in Week 4 against the Rams.

The Eagles limited Smith’s practice reps last week, and he successfully suited up on game day, nabbing 6-of-8 targets for 65 yards. Apparently, the performance took a toll. The Eagles will likely be without their No. 1 wide receiver this week. Dontayvion Wicks will fill in as the team’s top receiver.
NFL could 'deconstruct' Sunday Ticket by 2030
Mike Florio discusses the future of NFL broadcasting on the heels of a report that the league could do away with Sunday Ticket, the subscription service allowing fans to watch every out-of-market game, by 2030.

Smith didn’t practice at all this week and enters Week 5 in a precarious position. Dontayvion Wicks should take over as the team’s No. 1 receiver, and it’s possible Makai Lemon will get more involved as well as the Eagles try to stay above .500 against the Rams.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #6
Smith practiced on the second of the three practice days ahead of last Monday night in a limited fashion, but it’s hard to determine how worried we should be, as the Eagles may simply be trying to give him more rest ahead of this Sunday’s game against the Rams. He’s missed both of the first two practices of the week this time around. Friday’s report will be very instructive. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo later chimed in to say that it sounds like Smith is “legitimately questionable” to play in Week 4.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #6
This is the same routine Smith followed last week before ultimately suiting up against the Bears on Monday Night Football. Perhaps the pattern changes with the Eagles on a short week against the Rams, but we would fully expect Smith to be out there as a high-end WR2 this weekend.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #13
For his part, Wicks was consistently breaking free of coverage with smooth route-running ability, but the offense managed just over 23 minutes time of possession on 47 offensive plays, leaving all involved stuck on a sinking ship. Better fantasy days should be ahead for Wicks in the immediate future, at least for as long as tight end Dallas Goedert remains sidelined with an MCL sprain. That said, he draws a difficult matchup against the Rams in Week 4. Treat Wicks as a viable FLEX option in a tough spot.

Smith notched five of his six receptions before the break while appearing to be on his way to his second solid outing of the young season. Things would change after the half as the Eagles started with three consecutive three-and-outs, leaving Smith with only one additional reception. Smith remains the clear alpha on a roster now without A.J. Brown following his offseason trade and Dallas Goedert due to injury, and should return better counting stats in the immediate future. Treat Smith as an upside WR2 ahead of a Week 4 matchup against the Rams.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #6
Smith’s week of practiced steadily increased from a limited showing to full-go, paving the way for him to operate as the clear-cut top option through the air against a porous Bears secondary. Fantasy managers can start him with confidence is an upside WR2 in Week 3.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #6
Smith was back at practice, logging a limited session, after sitting out yesterday. The Eagles’ WR1 is on track to play, but hamstring injuries can be finicky. This is worth tracking closely. The Bears have fielded a very fantasy-friendly pass defense thus far, making this a favorable matchup for the Eagles’ passing attack.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #6
This is unfortunate. Smith dealt with a hamstring injury back in August, but rehabbed it successfully before the season began. The Eagles have an extra day to rest, with their Week 3 game against the Bears airing as this week’s Monday Night Football game, but he must be treated as questionable to play at this time. Eagles WR Dontayvion Wicks would handle No. 1 wide receiver duties if Smith cannot play.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #6
It sounds like Smith may end up being listed as a limited participant. We will learn more when the injury report comes out later today. Hopefully, this is just veteran rest as the Eagles gear up for a Week 3 Monday Night Football game against the Bears. Eagles WR Dontayvion Wicks took a hard fall in Week 2 and missed a few plays. He later told reporters that he “will be good.” If Wicks is indeed good and Smith is not, Wicks would operate as the receiving corps’ top option.
  • PHI Wide Receiver #13
The 74 yards were the fifth most of Wicks’ career, putting him one ahead of the 73 he posted in his first game as an Eagle last week. The former Packer is off to a great Philly start from a compiling standpoint, though he did lose snaps to Darius Cooper as the game wore on this afternoon. Hopefully that was for some inscrutable matchup-based reason. Wicks can rug pull with the best of them, so despite the two strong efforts to begin the year, he should be considered more of a WR5 than WR4 heading into Week 3 in Chicago.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Sam LaPorta and the Lions “have broken off contract talks.”

Rapoport did note that the Lions could make another push to sign LaPorta later this year, so the door isn’t entirely closed. LaPorta is set to become a free agent next offseason. The team could, however, place the franchise tag on him. He has gotten off to a quiet start with 14 catches for 144 yards and one score. LaPorta is currently on pace for a career-low in yards per game. He would still have plenty of suitors in free agency, even if the counting stats don’t improve this year.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Baker Mayfield (thumb) is expected to miss “anywhere from three to six weeks.”

Previous reports put the timeline at 2-4 weeks, so it’s possible the injury is worse than initially expected. The good news is that testing revealed no ligament or tendon damage in Mayfield’s thumb. Per Schefter, Mayfield’s return will depend on how quickly he can grip the ball. That is typically the first step in throwing a football. For now, UDFA rookie Jalon Daniels will draw the start. He is worth a look in Superflex leagues but can’t be played in one-quarterback formats.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Ladd McConkey (foot) is likely to play in Week 4 against the Seahawks.

McConkey was limited in Wednesday’s practice, downgraded to a DNP on Thursday, and returned for another limited session on Friday. It looks like the team was just heavily managing his workload during the week, but that could continue into today’s game. McConkey has been the only modestly successful part of the offense this year, and the Chargers would be wise to keep him healthy, even if that means limiting his snaps. He remains in the WR2 mix, though the injury makes him a riskier bet than usual.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Rams “do not intend to limit” Puka Nacua’s workload in Week 4 against the Eagles.

Looks like we’ve got ourselves an old-fashioned source-off here. Schefter says Nacua won’t be limited, while The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero said over the weekend that Nacua may be on “a stricter snap count than usual.” Even if his snaps are cut back, Nacua is one of the best per-route receivers in the NFL. He will get by for fantasy managers in whatever role the Rams give him. He is, at worst, a low-end WR1 for Week 4.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Jalen Coker (quad) is “unlikely to play” in Week 4 against the Lions.

Coker injured his quad in Week 3. He got in two limited practices this week before being listed as questionable. It doesn’t sound like a long-term injury, but the team is being cautious with a young wideout who has already suffered multiple lower-body injuries this year. With Xavier Legette on IR, Brycen Tremayne is Carolina’s WR2 for Week 4.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Zay Flowers (hamstring) is “good to go” for Week 4 against the Titans.

Fowler added that Flowers is not expected to be on a “hard pitch count.” The Ravens will presumably keep tabs on his injured hamstring, but as long as he feels good, Flowers will get his normal allotment of snaps. Despite exiting Week 1 early and being on a snap count last week, Flowers is averaging six catches for 117 yards across two appearances this year. He will make the WR1 cut next week if he puts up similar numbers today.

Ashton Dulin (ankle) will play in Week 4 against the Commanders.

With Keenan Allen ruled out and Alec Pierce on IR, Dulin is now in line to be the Colts’ No. 2 receiver in his season debut. The passing attack will run through Josh Downs, putting him comfortably inside the WR2 ranks. Inactive for the Colts are WR Keenan Allen, WR Darius Slayton, RB DJ Giddens, QB Riley Leonard, EDGE George Gumbs, and OG Dalton Tucker.

Commanders declared Terry McLaurin (hamstring) inactive for Week 4 against the Colts.

McLaurin was a late addition to the injury report after tweaking his hamstring on Friday. He was initially expected to play through the issue, but things took a turn for the worse over the weekend. Stefon Diggs will operate as the team’s clear No. 1 receiver until McLaurin is back. Inactive for the Commanders are QB Jayden Daniels, RB Rachaad White, WR Luke McCaffrey, S Nick Cross, EDGE Javontae Jean-Baptiste, and OG Sam Cosmi.

Panthers elevated WR Ja’Seem Reed from the practice squad.

This is notable considering head coach Dave Canales previously said that the team would only elevated Reed if Coker couldn’t go in Week 4. Coker, listed as questionable, now appears on the worse side of the designation ahead of a Week 4 meeting with the Lions on Sunday Night Football. Fantasy managers are better off making contingent plans now considering the Panthers are the penultimate game of the week.

Panthers placed WR Xavier Legette (knee) on injured reserve.

Legette was already ruled out for Week 4, which marks his second straight absence. He will now be forced to miss the next four games while on injured reserve, making his absence a total of five games, at minimum. John Metchie and Brycen Tremaine will continue to operate as the WR3 in the interim.
