Heading into the final day of qualifying at 8-under, all Morin had to do was hold serve in order to make a playoff for the final spot. Carding rounds of 70-66-69, the 52-year-old chose an unfortunate time to turn in his first over-par round of the week. Turning in 2-over, the man from San Diego appeared lost before collecting a birdie on the par-3 11th and an eagle on the par-5 12th. Needing to play his final six-holes in even-par, Morin instead played them in 2-over, carding three additional bogeys against only one birdie. Finishing the day with a 1-over 72, Morin carded a 72-hole total of 7-under 277, one-stroke behind Tom Gillis who occupied the final qualifying spot. Despite failing to secure his status, the silver lining is those players who finished sixth to 30th are eligible for open qualifiers this upcoming season, meaning this may not be the last time we hear from Morin.
