The 34-year-old Silverman, who hails from Canada but calls Florida home, shot 72-73 last week in his tournament debut at The Country Club and missed the cut by two strokes. He seemed to have found his game on Monday, however, making six birdies and just one bogey to card a 5-under 67 at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, Conn. Patrick Flavin earned medalist honors with a 6-under 66, while Conrad Shindler and Bo Hoag also advanced to TPC River Highlands after posting matching 67s and avoiding a playoff. Silverman, who played college golf at Florida Atlantic, also Monday qualified this season for the HP Enterprise Houston Open and WM Phoenix Open, missing the cut at both. Silverman earned his spot at Brookline by finishing T-6 at the Dallas qualifier. He’s also made four Korn Ferry Tour starts this season, making the cut in just one – at the Veritex Bank Championship where he was T-60.
