Greg Norman has appointed Frank Nobilo as his assistant captain for the 2009 President’s Cup.

Nobilo is the latest to go from the TV booth/studio to a leadership role in team competition. He played in the first three President’s Cups (winning in 1996) and will add to Norman’s connection to golfers from Australia and Nobilo’s native New Zealand (if any qualify). Due to major back problems, Nobilo hasn’t competed on the PGA Tour since 2002 and does not become eligible for the Champions Tour until he turns 50 on May 14, 2010.
