Leaney carded a 5-over-par 76 in his first round, and since he was 68th in the FedEx Cup points going into the week, he will remain eligible to play in next week’s Deutsche Bank Championship. The reason later given for his withdrawal was a left wrist injury.

Leaney withdrew at last week’s Barclays Championship because of a left wrist injury and the same injury caused him to withdraw this week. He came into the week in 73th place in the FedEx Cup points and will not advance to the next round of the playoffs.

Leaney currently is 96th on the Money List and will retain his card for the 2008 season. He has been replaced in the field by Bob May, who had a nice T-5 a few weeks ago at the Frys.com Open.

While Leaney managed six birdies this week, he couldn’t avoid the big number (four bogeys, two doubles), primarily due to the fact that he hit just 20 GIR.
