UPDATE: Victor Martinez told Chris Iott of MLive.com that the “pinch” was actually in his surgically-repaired knee, but he said he’s “not concerned.” Tigers manager Brad Ausmus will see how he feels in the morning, but he hasn’t ruled out the possibility that he’ll be in the lineup Sunday.

8:10 p.m. ET: Scary moment here for the Tigers, as Victor Martinez left today’s game against the Indians in the seventh inning with a left leg injury.

Martinez injured himself swinging at a pitch before hitting an RBI single. The 36-year-old reached first base before hobbling off the field. The Tigers have since announced that he felt a pinch in his leg and already feels better. He’s considered day-to-day.

Martinez had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee in February, so any sort of leg issue is a concern. The veteran designated hitter could be limited over the next few days with the Tigers set to play under National League rules in their upcoming series against the Pirates.
