Josh Allen has picked up right where he left off last season.
The reigning MVP fired a 15-yard touchdown to Dalton Kincaid over the middle, giving the Bills an early 7-0 lead over the Ravens on Sunday night.
The Bills didn’t have long to go to get in the end zone. Buffalo’s final season at the current Highmark Stadium got started well with a 41-yard return to the 50-yard line by Brandon Codrington.
While Ty Johnson had the big play on the drive with a 17-yard run — that was technically a swing pass thrown backward — Allen did the rest with his pass to Kincaid over the middle on second-and-11.
Allen also had a 3-yard run on the possession, as the Bills gained three first downs and averaged 6.4 yards per play.
The Bills have decided to make one of their offensive contributors from 2024 a healthy scratch to start the 2025 season.
Receiver Curtis Samuel is inactive for Buffalo for the Week 1 matchup against Baltimore.
Samuel, 29, appeared in 14 games with two starts for the Bills last season and had a pair of touchdown catches in three postseason games.
Buffalo’s active receivers are Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer, Khalil Shakir, Tyrell Shavers, and Elijah Moore.
Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White, who was doubtful, is also inactive with his groin injury.
Jordan Hancock, Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, Chase Lundt, and Landon Jackson round out Buffalo’s inactives.
For Baltimore, tight end Isaiah Likely (foot) and fullback Patrick Ricard (calf) are inactive after previously being ruled out.
Keaton Mitchell, Reuben Lowery, Carson Vinson, and David Ojabo are also inactive for the Ravens.
The Cowboys made a bad situation worse by trading linebacker Micah Parsons to a conference rival in Green Bay. The Cowboys ultimately didn’t have many choices.
It came down to Green Bay or Philadelphia.
Via Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Cowboys began trying to trade Parsons roughly a week before the trade happened. Dallas, however, could find no traction with any AFC teams.
It’s kind of amazing that no AFC team would try to get Parsons. The Chiefs have made it to five of the last six Super Bowls, and other elite teams are trying to close the window on the Kingdom’s reign.
The Bills, the Ravens, the Chargers, the Broncos. All of them should have been interested.
The Eagles absolutely were. They offered, per Glazer, two first-round picks, a third-round pick, a fifth-round pick and more. But the Cowboys weren’t going to trade Parsons to a division rival that is already more stacked than most if not all other NFL teams.
Cornerback Jaire Alexander is set to make his Ravens debut against the Bills on Sunday night.
Alexander was a full participant in practice for the second straight day on Friday and the Ravens did not give him an injury designation for their road opener. Alexander has been dealing with a knee injury, but the offseason acquisition is on track to play.
Guard Daniel Faalele (illness) is in the same category. He was limited in Wednesday’s practice, but joined Alexander as a full participant to close out the week.
Tight end Isaiah Likely has been ruled out with a foot injury and fullback Patrick Ricard (calf) is going to miss the game as well.
The Bills placed kicker Tyler Bass on injured reserve Friday, the team announced.
Bass, who has a left hip/groin injury, will miss a minimum of four games, including Sunday’s season opener against the Ravens.
The Bills signed Matt Prater to the practice squad Thursday to fill in for Bass.
Prater has nearly 20 years of NFL experience and holds the record for most field goal makes from at least 50 yards with 81. His longest makes are from 62 and 64 yards. He’s made 407-of-487 (83.6 percent) field goals in his NFL career.
Bass was limited in Wednesday’s practice and did not participate in Thursday or Friday’s practices.
The Bills list cornerback Tre’Davious White (groin) as doubtful as he missed practice all week.
Corner Christian Benford (groin), wide receiver Keon Coleman (groin), wide receiver Elijah Moore (personal) and wide receiver and Khalil Shakir (ankle) were full participants Friday and have no injury designation.
