Technically, Bills quarterback Josh Allen no longer has a left hand injury. He’s nevertheless wearing a glove on his left hand in advance of Thursday night’s game at Miami.

His second and third fingers are also taped together, over the glove.

Allen was on the Monday and Tuesday injury report as a full practice participant, with a left hand injury. By Wednesday, Allen was off the report — and he had no designation for the game.

The injury report says, “This is fine.” The glove, with the taped fingers, sends a different message.

Once the game starts, it makes sense to see whether he takes a hit to the hand and, if so, what the aftermath might be.

Running back De’Von Achane will dress for Thursday Night Football.

Achane was questionable with an ankle injury, though he got in limited work at Wednesday’s practice.

The Dolphins need him with starting running back Raheem Mostert already ruled out with a chest injury.

Neither Achane nor Mostert left the game with their injuries, though the Dolphins gave Jeff Wilson Jr. five rushing attempts in the fourth quarter with Achane getting four and Mostert two. Achane played 37 total snaps and Mostert 31 in the victory over the Jaguars.

Defensive back Elijah Campbell (Achilles) also is active.

The Dolphins’ other inactives besides Mostert are cornerback Ethan Bonner, outside linebacker Mohamed Kamara, center Andrew Meyer, inside linebacker Channing Tindall and wide receiver Malik Washington (quad).

The Bills’ inactives are outside linebacker Joe Andreessen, cornerback Taron Johnson (forearm), defensive end Dawuane Smoot (toe), defensive end Javon Solomon (oblique), middle linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio and offensive tackle Ryan Van Demark.

The Dolphins elevated wide receiver Robbie Chosen from the practice squad to the active roster for Thursday Night Football.

Chosen played 12 snaps but had no stats in Sunday’s victory the Jaguars when the Dolphins elevated him.

He has one elevation remaining before the Dolphins will have to sign Chosen to the active roster to get him on the game day roster.

Chosen played nine games with the Dolphins last year and returned to the Miami practice squad after being cut by the 49ers as they moved to 53 players last month. He had four catches for 126 yards and a touchdown in his previous run with the AFC East club.

In 121 career games, Chosen has 379 receptions for 5,082 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Braxton Berrios and Grant DuBose will also be available at receiver tonight. The Dolphins ruled out Malik Washington (quad), and Odell Beckham Jr. is on the physically unable to perform list for at least the first four games.

The Tyreek Hill incident from Sunday nearly had an even greater impact on the Dolphins’ Week 1 game.

Appearing Thursday on PFT Live, Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald said that the Miami-Dade police officers on the scene intended to arrest Hill and defensive linemen Calais Campbell. If they had been arrested, they would have missed the game.

Kelly said that the Dolphins intervened, defusing the situation and ensuring that Hill and Campbell would not be taken in for the booking, processing, and other activities that would have made them unavailable to play. As Kelly noted, it helps that the Dolphins are a major employer of off-duty Miami-Dade police officers.

Even without that extra sway, it was the right outcome. One officer in particular escalated the situation and pushed for both to be arrested.

The Bills have added defensive end Kingsley Jonathan to the roster for Thursday night’s game against the Dolphins.

Jonathan is being elevated from the practice squad, so he will revert back to that roster after the contest.

Jonathan appeared in 13 games for the Bills last season and saw most of his playing time on special teams. He had five tackles and two quarterback hits. He also played one game for the Bills in 2022 and made four appearances for the Bears that year.

The Bills ruled Dawuane Smoot out on Wednesday and they have Javon Solomon listed as doubtful, so Jonathan gives them some healthy depth at a thin spot.
