One of the NFL’s highest-paid offensive tackles is on the move, again.
Per multiple reports, the Texans have traded left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Commanders.
Via Adam Schefter of ESPN.co, the Commanders are sending a 2025 third-round pick, a 2025 seventh-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round pick to the Texans. The Texans are sending a 2025 fourth-round pick to the Commanders, with Tunsil.
Tunsil is signed for two more years. He has a base salary of $20.95 million in 2025 and a $20.95 million salary in 2026. He also has annual workout bonuses of $150,000 and $250,000 in per-game active roster bonuses.
A first-round pick in 2016 who slid when someone posted photos of him smoking marijuana in a gas mask just as the draft was starting, Tunsil has spent three years in Miami and six in Houston.
In 2019, he was traded to Houston for a package headlined by two first-round picks and a second-round pick.
The Dolphins announced a new deal with one of their own free agents on Monday.
They have signed defensive lineman Matt Dickerson to a new deal. They did not disclose any terms of the deal.
Dickerson signed to the Miami practice squad last October and then appeared in four games after being added to the active roster. He played 15 defensive snaps and one special teams snap in those appearances.
Dickerson has also played for the Chiefs, Falcons, and Titans since entering the league in 2018. He has 42 tackles, three tackles for loss, and three quarterback hits in 40 career games.
The Texans have added a wide receiver in the first minutes of free agency.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that they have agreed to terms with Braxton Berrios. It’s a one-year deal worth $2 million.
The Texans are also set to acquire Christian Kirk in a trade with the Jaguars when the new league year opens on Wednesday. They will join Nico Collins in the Houston receiving corps and we’ll see what happens with veteran free agents Stefon Diggs and Robert Woods.
Berrios tore his ACL in his sixth appearance for the Dolphins last season. He did not catch a pass in those appearances, but was working as a kickoff and punt returner.
Berrios has 134 catches for 1,323 yards and six touchdowns for his career. He has also run for four scores and he has one kickoff return touchdown.
Cornerback Kader Kohou won’t become an unrestricted free agent in the coming days.
The Dolphins announced on Saturday that they have tendered Kohou a contract as a restricted free agent. It’s the right-of-first-refusal tender, which means that the Dolphins will have a chance to match any offer that Kohou accepts from another club.
If no other team tries to pry Kohou loose, he’ll be set to play out the year for a $3.263 million salary.
Kohou has started 38 of the 47 games that he’s played for Miami over the last three seasons. He has 180 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and a sack.
Miami linebacker Quinton Bell played all 17 games last season, but the Dolphins are ready to let him leave in free agency this year.
The Dolphins will not tender Bell as a restricted free agent, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. That means Bell becomes an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday.
Bell earned rave reviews in training camp last year and earned a spot on the active roster, and then he played in every game, mostly on special teams but also getting three starts on defense. Ordinarily, that would be enough to stick around with a restricted free agent tender offer, but the Dolphins have decided to let him test free agency.
The 28-year-old Bell originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round raft pick of the Raiders out of Prairie View A&M in 2019. He has also spent time with the Buccaneers, Falcons and Eagles.
