With former Eagles director of player personnel Ryan Grigson landing in Indy as the new G.M. and with Colts coach Jim Caldwell’s fate still undetermined, a theory has emerged in at least one circle of the Philly media that would pair Grigson with Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg.
It’s more of a spitball than a theory from Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, and he seems to admit that he’s just connecting fairly superficial dots with no real reason to believe that Grigson would: (1) fire Caldwell; and (2) hire Mornhinweg.
Unlike a year ago, when there was a passing notion that the man who helped Mike Vick become more of a pocket passer could get a shot at redemption nearly a decade after his win-the-toss-in-overtime-and-kick-it two years in Motown, Mornhinweg’s name hasn’t been whispered for an interview -- even in Tampa, where the first FFCA convention apparently is being held.
And yet somehow McLane massages the slim possibility into a 1,006-word article about how or why or when or if it could happen.
We’ll stop at 171.
Make that 174.
Crap, 176.
