Chiefs interim head coach Romeo Crennel says he hopes that in the final three games of the season, he can prove that he deserves to have the “interim” label removed.
“I would like to be a head coach again and show that I can get it done,” Crennel told the Kansas City Star. “I know how to get it done, and I think the experience from the first time will make me better the next time around.”
Crennel coached the Browns for four years, never made the playoffs and went 24-40 overall, so he wouldn’t be the most inspiring of choices to a Chiefs fan base that needs some inspiration right now. Barring the Chiefs going 3-0 the rest of the way (against the Packers, Raiders and Broncos), it’s tough to see the Chiefs giving Crennel the job in 2012.
But Crennel has those three games to demonstrate he deserves the job. And that’s what he plans on doing.
