The buildup to Johnson-Finnegan was pretty tame

A. Johnson4

NFL Films picked a good week to put a microphone on Andre Johnson.

The NFL Network show Sound FX will air the results Wednesday night, but you can already view the footage online. Unfortunately, the league edited out the juiciest stuff. (Although Houston’s predictability in goal-line situations is a funny sidebar.)

On the play before Johnson and Finnegan got in their fight, Johnson pushed Finnegan in the back and knocked his helmet off. The two men were seen jawing at each other in other footage, but Sound FX cuts away quickly after Johnson’s push. It’s disappointing the league doesn’t think fans can handle watching what really was said before the fight.

Otherwise, we were surprised that Johnson didn’t show a lot of frustration throughout the game. Finnegan is constantly on Johnson’s mind, though. An official warns Johnson not to block Finnegan in the back early in the game. Later, Johnson complains about Finnegan using his hands to the face of Johnson’s facemask.

“Believe me, I watch [Finnegan] every play, everywhere,” the official says.

That isn’t going to change anytime soon.
