Chael Sonnen, an ex-UFC middleweight star who retired after his second and third failed drug tests earlier this year, said he has considered trying out for the 2016 U.S. Olympic team in Greco-Roman wrestling.

“I would not make the team, but I think I could be one of the guys,” Sonnen said, according to The Associated Press. “I could be right in there, top four or five.”

Sonnen retired in June after it was announced he failed a drug test. A second failed drug test was later reported, and in July he was banned two years by the Nevada Athletic Commission. Sonnen tested positive for banned substances including HGH and EPO and admitted guilt.

Sonnen, who turns 39 in 2016, was an All-America wrestler at the University of Oregon and finished fourth in his class at the 2000 U.S. Olympic trials.

In August, Sonnen said he had “fantasies” of trying to make the 2016 U.S. Olympic team, according to
