China’s Li Jianrou won gold in the women’s short track 500m on Thursday. Italy’s Arianna Fontana finished second and Korea’s Park Seung-Hi won bronze.

Jianrou, 27, seems to favor the ice in Sochi, as she won two medals at a World Cup event. She’s been a strong performer at the relay level, with 11 World Cup golds in that area.

She wasn’t her country’s biggest favorite, however. That would be Fan Kexin, who crashed during the semifinals and was eliminated.

U.S. skater Emily Scott finished in 12th place.
