NBCSN’s Coverage of IAAF World Track & Field Championships Continues Tonight at 7 p.m. ET

STAMFORD, Conn. – September 30, 2019 – Top U.S. track and field athletes Noah Lyles, Michael Norman, Allyson Felix and Sydney McLaughlin highlight NBC Sports’ comprehensive coverage of the IAAF World Track & Field Championships this week, continuing today at 1 p.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.
The world’s best track & field athletes are competing in Doha, Qatar, this week in the biggest international meet leading up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The U.S. is expected to contend for medals in several events, including in men’s sprints and women’s hurdles. Lyles and Norman have the world’s fastest times this year in the 200m and 400m respectively, and Christian Coleman won the 100m title last weekend, becoming the sixth fastest man ever in the event. In addition, Americans hold world records in both the women’s 100m hurdles (Keni Harrison) and the women’s 400m hurdles (Dalilah Muhammad). Rio Olympian and 2019 Diamond League champion Sydney McLaughlin is also expected to compete in the 400m hurdles.
The U.S. team also features strong contenders in Allyson Felix (women’s 4x400m relay pool), who has already won a world title in the mixed 4x400m relay, Emma Coburn (steeplechase), and Rai Benjamin, who is a medal favorite in the 400m hurdles after an impressive performance at August’s Diamond League final, where he recorded a time of 46.98 seconds, tying for third-fastest ever in the event. NBC Sports’ coverage of today’s competitions begins at 1 p.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA and will feature performances by Lyles, Coburn and Benjamin.

In the first three days of competition, U.S. track & field athletes have collected eight medals (four gold, four silver). Felix helped lead the U.S. mixed 4x400m relay team to gold, securing her 12th career world championship gold medal, and Coleman won the men’s 100m world title in 9.76 seconds, cementing himself as the world’s fastest man since the retirement of Usain Bolt. Coleman will likely race again in the 4x100m relay on Saturday, October 5 on NBC.
Leigh Diffey calls the IAAF World Track & Field Championships, joined by four-time Olympic medalist and analyst Ato Boldon, four-time Olympic gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross, two-time world champion and decathlon Olympic silver medalist Trey Hardee, distance analyst Craig Masback, and reporters Paul Swangard and Lewis Johnson.
NBCSN continues coverage from Doha tonight at 7 p.m. ET, and presents live coverage tomorrow, Tues., Oct. 1 at 9:30 a.m. ET and 1:30 p.m. ET, which will feature coverage of Lyles in the men’s 200m final. On Friday, October 4 Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA begins coverage at 1 p.m. ET and presents the women’s 400m hurdles final featuring Muhammad and McLaughlin, and the men’s 400m final featuring Norman.
NBC presents live coverage this weekend, beginning on Saturday, October 5 at 2:30 p.m. ET and continuing Sunday, October 6 at Noon ET. Saturday’s coverage features the men’s and women’s 4x100m relay final, while Sunday’s coverage includes the women’s 100m hurdles final, and the men’s and women’s 4x400m relay final.
