DeAndre Yedlin’s first match with Tottenham Hotspur is in the books, as the USMNT back played 60 minutes for Spurs U-21 side at right back in a 3-1 win over West Ham United.

In a game where former Chicago Fire man Grant Ward scored a pair of goals and Ravel Morrison scored for West Ham, Yedlin got his first proper taste of English football in a windy, cold night in London.

Here’s what Yedlin, 21, told Spurs TV after the match (video link).

On the match: “I feel alright. It took me a little bit to get into it. Tough conditions, very windy, little bit of a hard pitch. Once I got comfortable, I felt better and I’m just looking to improve my game.

On starting training Wednesday and playing Friday: “It’s been a lot. On top of that looking for a place, dealing with a UK phone number, a car and driving on the other side of the road. It’s been a lot, but I’m handling it alright.”

On fan love for his signing: “It’s awesome to get the fans support and hopefully whenever I get the chance I can prove to them that I belong here.”
