On the eve of the Manchester Derby, Pep Guardiola has claimed that Manchester City were offered both Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January.

Grab your popcorn...

Speaking ahead of City’s clash with Manchester United on Saturday (Watch live, 12:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN and online via NBCSports.com), Guardiola told journalists that agent Mino Raiola offered Pogba and Mkhitaryan to them during the January window.

According to quotes released by multiple outlets, here are Guardiola claims.

“But being a guy who two months ago offered me Mkhitaryan and Pogba to play with us. Why? Why he offer? He was interested in Mhikitaryan and Pogba to play with us?” Guardiola said.

Dropping this bombshell on the eve of the Manchester derby, where a win against their bitter rivals would see City clinch the Premier League title at the earliest ever point of a season, is a bold move from Guardiola.

Textbook skulduggery.

It may also suggest just what has been going on behind-the-scenes at United between Jose Mourinho and Pogba, with the France international left out of the team in January and Mourinho reportedly fed up with his attitude on the training pitch as he left him out of multiple teams.

Saturday should be intriguing to see how Mourinho reacts to Guardiola’s comments.

Expect some fireworks on the sidelines.
