Messi, Aguero headline Argentina squad for Copa America

Just as planned, Lionel Messi will lead the way for Argentina next month at the Copa America Centenario.

The 2014 World Cup runner’s up revealed their final 23-man roster on Friday, which also includes Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero and Paris Saint-Germain’s Angel Di Maria.

Six Premier League players were included in Gerardo Martino’s squad, including Manchester United duo Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo, as well Tottenham’s Erik Lamela.

While this summer’s Copa America competition doesn’t have any bearing in terms of Confederations Cup qualification, the Albiceleste will be seeking a title after finishing second to Chile in the 2015 edition.

Here is Argentina’s full 23-man roster:

Goalkeepers: Sergio Romero (Manchester United), Mariano Andujar (Estudiantes), Nahuel Guzman (Tigres UANL)

Defenders: Marcos Rojo (Manchester United), Nicolas Otamendi (Manchester City), Ramiro Funes Mori (Everton), Facundo Rocaglia (Fiorentina), Gabriel Mercado (River Plate), Jonathan Maidana (River Plate), Victor Cuesta (Independiente)

Midfielders: Angel Di Maria (PSG), Javier Mascherano (Barcelona), Ever Banega (Sevilla), Lucas Biglia (Lazio), Javier Pastore (PSG), Augusto Fernandez (Atletico Madrid), Erik Lamela (Tottenham), Matias Kranevitter (Atletico Madrid)
