Wayne Rooney likely had too much fun after England’s big win over Scotland in UEFA World Cup qualifying, and now he’s facing a bit of backlash.

Photos emerged on Wednesday of what appears to be Rooney drunk at a wedding party he attended after the 3-0 win. Rooney is said to have been out until at least 5 a.m. and certainly didn’t look his best in the pictures.

Rooney’s camp issued an apology following the incident, which reads:

“Naturally Wayne is sorry that pictures taken with fans have been published today. Although it was a day off for the whole squad and staff, he fully recognizes that the images are inappropriate for someone in his position. Earlier today Wayne spoke privately to both Gareth Southgate and Dan Ashworth to unreservedly apologize.

“He would like to further extend that apology to any young fans who have seen these pictures.”

The 31-year-old attacker has had a tumultuous season at Old Trafford, however, recent reports suggest that the feud with Jose Mourinho could be ending as the Portuguese manager wants to keep Rooney.
