A pair of rough tackles on Bayern Munich players had head coach Pep Guardiola fuming during and after the MLS All Stars 2-1 win over the German giants on Wednesday night in Portland.

Osvaldo Alonso’s late sliding tackle on Xherdan Shaqiri had Guardiola across the halfway line, screaming at MLS head coach Caleb Porter and his bench. Some speculated that Porter’s players had breached a handshake agreement against rough tackling.

The second half continued to provide some rough play, as Will Johnson and Jerome Boateng joined Alonso in the referee’s book with yellow cards.

When the game ended, Guardiola ignored Porter’s handshake and the Bayern staff followed their manager’s lead.

Guardiola also joked that he would be back for comeuppance.

“I expect they are going to invite us back next year for a little bit of revenge, and I will be sure to prepare a little better.”

The word ‘petulant’ was the most used word I read online from folks describing Guardiola’s act. It was something, that’s for sure.
