He’s expected to miss at least a month’s worth of action and as we have often seen with hamate bone injuries, his power may be impacted upon his return. Gabriel Arias was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move and figures to share time with Daniel Schneemann at third base to cover for the loss of Ramírez.

The Royals didn’t confirm that he broke the bone on his fifth-inning swing, but that’s pretty much the only hamate injury there is. If it is a break, he’ll miss at least four-to-six weeks. John Rave or Josh Rojas could replace him on the roster. Rave makes more sense, since Jac Caglianone will likely play a lot of first base.

Schlittler gave up six hits and walked four batters, but still managed to limit Toronto’s lineup to just a third-inning solo homer by Kazuma Okamoto. The 29-year-old left-hander will take a 2.81 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and a 49/7 K/BB ratio across 48 innings into a start against the White Sox in Detroit on Friday.

That’s always the fear when a player starts shaking his wrist after a swing. Ramírez tends to be a quick healer, but he will almost surely miss at least a month. The Guardians are about to get Gabriel Arias back and could put him in the mix along with Daniel Schneemann at third, but prospect Angel Genao could also be an option.

Yamamoto was looking for his first MLB no-hitter after throwing two in Japan. The Dodgers’ last no-hitters were a combined effort in 2018 in which Walker Buehler started and went six innings and one from Clayton Kershaw in 2014. Yamamoto improved to 7-4 with a 2.52 ERA. He’ll get the Orioles next.

The homer, his 14th of the year, led off the game against Sean Burke. Ohtani didn’t show much enthusiasm on the bases today while playing through some knee soreness. It’s safe to say he won’t be a basestealing threat for at least a little while.

Seager receives some extra time off after a home-plate collision during Thursday’s game against Kansas City left him with rib and jaw soreness. He had been heating up, hitting safely in four of his last five games with two homers since returning from a back issue that sidelined him for a couple of weeks last month. It’ll be defensive specialist Nicky Lopez drawing another start at shortstop in his absence.

Arozarena expressed optimism that he’ll avoid his first-ever trip to the injured list following an early exit from Friday’s contest at hot and humid Nationals Park in Washington D.C. The 31-year-old power/speed combo threat figures to receive extra time off to rest and recover this weekend, including Monday’s scheduled off day, before the Mariners return to Seattle to start a series against the Orioles on Tuesday. It’ll be Luke Raley taking over in right field on Saturday afternoon.
