Ha-Seong Kim lands on IL with finger inflammation

Perdomo was replaced by Ildemaro Vargas at shortstop in the fifth inning after going 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. It sounds like a precautionary exit, but he’s likely headed for further evaluation to determine the severity of the issue. There should be additional clarity on his status leading into Tuesday’s contest.

The Cardinals were kept off the scoreboard for the first five innings and trailed 3-0 before Burleson’s two-run single in the sixth inning gave them life. The Cardinals rallied again in the eighth inning with Burleson hitting an RBI double and coming around to score on a Masyn Winn double, though they ultimately come up short in the 6-5 loss. Burleson is hitting .284 with an .831 OPS and 81 RBI.

He’s heating up. Schwarber hadn’t homered since July 18 prior to Sunday when he hit two home runs and was on base five times in the win over the Blue Jays. While he didn’t add to his home run total Monday against the Cardinals, he was on base four times in the win. Schwarber’s hitting .250 with a .911 OPS and 69 RBI on the season.

Dobbins gave up four hits, walked three and struck out six. He fell to 2-3 with the loss. In the second inning, Dobbins fielded a chopper off the bat of Derek Hill and threw it down the right field line. The throwing error allowed Brandon Marsh to score on the play and Hill later scored on an Edmundo Sosa single. In the fifth inning, a throwing error by Jordan Walker led to another unearned run. Dobbins has a 3.40 ERA in nine appearances (six starts) this year. He’s lined up to face the Cubs on the road on Sunday.

Painter gave up two hits, walked three and struck out six. He improved to 2-8 with the win. Painter rebounded nicely after leaving his last start with hamstring tightness. He now has 16 strikeouts in 15 1/3 innings over his last three starts. Painter has a 6.27 ERA, though his 4.61 xFIP points towards better results in the future. He’s lined up to face the Twins on the road on Sunday.

Martin delivered an epic stat sheet stuffing performance, filling up the box score with an impressive all-around fantasy effort. The 27-year-old smacked a solo homer off Orioles starter Trevor Rogers in the third inning as part of a four-hit performance. He also tallied his 12th stolen base of the year.

There are going to be nights like this for Culpepper as he acclimates to everyday life in the majors as Minnesota’s shortstop of the future. He picked up an RBI on a fourth-inning sacrifice fly to somewhat salvage things. The 24-year-old offers enough over-the-fence pop and stolen base upside to matter in all fantasy leagues, but counting on him to hit for average might be a bit of a stretch. He’s one of the more exciting prospects to reach the majors in recent weeks and is at least worthy of a speculative roster spot.

Kremer predictably came back to haunt his former team, limiting Baltimore to just a pair of baserunners across seven strong frames. His seven punchouts were his highest single-start total since April 18. He’s allowed two runs over 12 innings since being shipped to Minnesota just ahead of the trade deadline earlier this month. He’ll wrap up a two-start week with a home outing against the Phillies on Sunday.

Rogers’ velocity was up across the board as he averaged 95.2 mph on his fastball and topped out at 97.4 mph, his fastest pitch of the entire season. He wasn’t the most efficient in this outing, needing 79 pitches to complete four frames. He gave up four hits, including a solo homer to Austin Martin. He finished with four strikeouts, but also issued two walks and hit a pair of batters. He’ll close out a two-start week with a road matchup against the Rays on Sunday.

Lindor’s homer was protected at 420 feet, and he also had a 104-mph double that would have been a homer in four ballparks. He’s hitting .286/.375/.549 with six homers and 18 RBI in 23 games during the second half. He totaled five homers and 12 RBI in 40 games during the first half.
