Marlins purchased the contracts of RHP Dallas Trahern, C Brett Hayes, RHP Christopher Leroux and RHP Tim Wood.
Trahern, one of the players picked up in the Miguel Cabrera deal, struggled last season, going 5-11 with a 6.16 ERA at Triple-A Albuquerque. If he doesn’t pitch better next year, he may face a conversion to the pen. Hayes is a long shot to develop into a quality backup. Leroux and Wood are relief prospects, with Leroux being the more interesting of the two.

Red Sox recalled LHP Tyler Samaniego from Triple-A Worcester.
Samaniego has a 1.04 ERA in 18 games with the Red Sox this year, so it was surprising that he was optioned back to Worcester on Sunday in the first place. Garrett Whitlock’s placement on the injured list opened the door for Samaniego to reclaim his roster spot.
How long can Ohtani sustain two-way success?
David Samson joins the Dan Le Batard Show to discuss current hitting trends in the MLB, touching on Shohei Ohtani's already historic career and whether he can sustain his success on the mound and at the plate.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #22
Red Sox placed Garrett Whitlock on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 25, with left knee inflammation.
Whitlock had a 3.20 ERA in 19 2/3 innings for the Red Sox as their main setup man for Aroldis Chapman, blowing a save on Sunday before sitting out the next two days with the injury. Justin Slaten looks to be the main cog in this pen for holds now, with Jovani Morán potentially joining the mix as well.
  • TOR 3rd Baseman
Blue Jays selected the contract of INF Charles McAdoo from Triple-A Buffalo.
He was hitting .250/.356/.436 at Buffalo this year, coming over from the Pirates in a deadline Isiah Kiner-Falefa trade in 2024. McAdoo will likely be in the lineup tonight against the Orioles if Vladimir Guerrero Jr. requires another day off. He’ll have a chance to play Lenyn Sosa off the roster while Sosa is on IL with a wrist contusion.
  • TOR 2nd Baseman #50
Blue Jays placed INF Lenyn Sosa on the 10-day injured list with a right wrist contusion.
Sosa will give way to Charles McAdoo on the active roster, though playing time may be sparse enough that there’s little reason to pick up McAdoo. Sosa did not play Wednesday after apparently suffering the injury on Tuesday. He was hitting .188/.205/.275 since being picked up by the Jays for Jordan Rich on April 13.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #60
Blue Jays transferred Lazaro Estrada from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
It frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for INF Charles McAdoo. Estrada was placed on the injured list on April 18, retroactive to April 5, so his potential return timeline isn’t altered much by this. He’ll be eligible to come off the injured list in early June.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #52
Blue Jays optioned RHP Chase Lee to Triple-A Buffalo.
Lee has an 8.10 ERA in three appearance for the Jays, walking four and striking out just one. He figures to be part of the bullpen shuttle between Buffalo and Toronto for most of the season. Lee does hold a 1.83 ERA in 19 2/3 innings at Buffalo, so he’s shown well there despite not pitching well at the highest level just yet.
  • ATL Shortstop #7
Ha-Seong Kim is not in Atlanta’s starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Red Sox.
It looks to be a routine day off for Kim against Red Sox LHP Payton Tolle. Kim has struggled mightily since returning from his torn finger tendon, hitting just .095/.191/.095 in 12 games for the Braves so far. Jorge Mateo is manning shortstop today in his absence.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #60
Twins scratched Kendry Rojas from today’s start against the White Sox with posterior elbow soreness.
Elbow soreness is never something we want to see, of course. More tests are likely incoming, and we’ll have better information after the Twins provide an official update. Rojas had looked promising in the early going with a 1.26 ERA in 14 1/3 innings pitched, albeit with 10 walks over that span.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #24
Simeon Woods Richardson will start Thursday’s game against the White Sox.
Kendry Rojas was scratched with an injury ahead of the game. Obviously, with a 7.20 ERA and 0-6 record, there’s little reason for fantasy managers to give Woods Richardson a chance until we see better work.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #51
Tigers recalled LHP Drew Sommers from Triple-A Toledo.
Sommers hasn’t had a stint in the bigs yet this year, though he did serve as the 27th man in a doubleheader over the weekend. Sommers holds a 3.00 ERA in 21 innings with Toledo, striking out 35 in just 21 innings while walking 11. He doesn’t figure to initially be part of the holds or saves conversation, but if he keeps striking out batters like that at the big league level, it’s on the table.
