Rangers signed C Robinzon Diaz to a minor league contract.
He was assigned to Triple-A Round Rock. Diaz spent the 2011 season in the Rangers organization. He moved on to the Angels this season and was released a few days ago. The 28-year-old backstop hasn’t appeared in the majors since 2009 with the Pirates. Diaz will provide catching depth at the minor league level and is probably one more injury away from the bigs, with Mike Napoli on the disabled list.
