Marlins acquired OF Ricardo Cespedes and RHP Merandy Gonzalez from the Marlins for RHP A.J. Ramos.

No, not that Cespedes. The 19-year-old outfielder has advanced above rookie ball for the first time this season, slashing .255/.283/.294 with one homer, 15 RBI and a 22/4 K/BB ratio across Rookie League, Low-A Brooklyn and Class-A Columbia. Like Gonzalez, Cespedes will have to be added to the 40-man roster this winter if the Marlins intend to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft.

Blue Jays optioned INF Charles McAdoo to Triple-A Buffalo.

With Daulton Vasho returning from the injured list on Saturday, someone needed to get the boot from the Jays’ bench and McAdoo wound up being the odd man out this time around. The 24-year-old hit .160 (4-for-25) with a homer, three RBI and a 6/0 K/BB ratio in his limited time with the Jays. He’ll return to an everyday role at the Triple-A level until he’s needed again.

Little’s stay with the big league club lasted just one day this time around as he gave up four runs on three hits and a pair of walks in his lone inning of work against the Cubs on Friday afternoon. Lazaro Estrada was activated from the 60-day injured list to take his spot in a Jays’ bullpen that has been heavily taxed in recent days.

As anticipated, Estrada will rejoin the Blue Jays’ bullpen on Saturday after being sidelined since April 5 due to a right shoulder impingement. He has made just one appearance with the team this season, hurling four scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Brendon Little was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move to clear a spot in the Jays’ bullpen.

Cubs’ skipper Craig Counsell told reporters on Saturday that the MRI on the injured elbow of right-hander Daniel Palencia revealed only a minor flexor strain.

That’s about the best possible news that the Cubs and fantasy managers could have received here. The expectation is that he’ll be shut down from throwing for about a week before starting to ramp back up. The Cubs will likely patch together the ninth inning in the meantime.
