Yandy Díaz returned to the Rays’ lineup with a bang on Friday night, crushing a two-run homer in a losing effort against the Blue Jays.
The 32-year-old slugger missed each of the team’s last two games due to tightness in his right hamstring, but he didn’t look any worse for the wear on Friday night. He clobbered a 427-foot blast off of Yusei Kikuchi to get the Rays on the board in the sixth inning, but it only trimmed their deficit to six runs at 8-2. Díaz also singled and walked in the ballgame, reaching base safely in each of his three plate appearances. On the season, he’s slashing an outstanding .330/.411/.523 with 22 long balls and 78 RBI.
