Reid Detmers allowed six runs – five earned – and five hits with two walks and four strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Braves on Wednesday.
Some of what’s still holding Detmers back in his transition to the starting rotation was evident in this start. His fastball velocity fell from over 95 mph in the first inning to under 94 mph by the third to below 93 mph by the fifth before he was pulled. In that third inning, Matt Olson launched a home run on a 94 mph fastball. Detmers’ so-so command means that fastball’s effectiveness will be closely tied to its velocity, so keep an eye on whether or not he can sustain it moving forward. Otherwise, his slider was still nasty and he did get a bit unlucky with some porous defense behind him. He also didn’t allow many hard-hit balls. It was a strange start and he’ll try to recapture some positive momentum in a tough matchup against the Yankees in the Bronx coming up.

Moisés Ballesteros is on the bench for Tuesday’s contest against the Phillies.
Ballesteros takes a seat against Phillies lefty Jesús Luzardo with Alex Bregman getting a break from the field at DH and Matt Shaw entering the lineup at third base for his first start since April 15. The 22-year-old former top prospect is hitting a robust .378 (17-for-45) with three homers and 10 RBI in 19 games this season. He’s a potent offensive threat, but his lack of defensive versatility is going to leave him the odd-man out occasionally when the Cubs have to mix up their lineup.
Expect closer by committee with Diaz sidelined
With Edwin Diaz sidelined for multiple months, Eric Samulski highlights which Dodger arms fantasy managers should have their eyes on and why Tanner Scott could get the "majority" of save opportunities.
  • MIN Right Fielder #38
Matt Wallner (rib) is back in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Mets.
Wallner is back patrolling right field and batting seventh following a brief one-game absence due to a lingering rib issue. It doesn’t appear to be a significant concern. The 28-year-old slugger has three homers in 20 games this season.
  • MIA Shortstop #9
Xavier Edwards is batting cleanup again on Tuesday against the Cardinals.
Sure, why not. It’s probably been a few years since Edwards hit cleanup at any sort of level, but he went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and an RBI in his first shot there on Monday evening with Kyle Stowers hitting second. The 26-year-old speedster isn’t long for the heart of the order, but the Marlins don’t exactly have a ton of alternatives unless someone like Agustín Ramírez is going to heat up.
  • MIL Center Fielder #11
Jackson Chourio (hand) is scheduled to progress to on-field hitting on Wednesday.
It’ll be Chourio’s first time taking on-field swings since hitting the injured list with a fractured hand on Opening Day last month. The 22-year-old fantasy superstar will likely require a brief minor league rehab assignment to get back up to speed, but he could potentially return to Milwaukee’s lineup by the end of the month.
  • PHI 1st Baseman
Felix Reyes is batting cleanup on Tuesday against the Cubs.
Reyes has gone 1-for-3 with a solo homer off Atlanta ace Chris Sale since being called up over the weekend from Triple-A Lehigh Valley where he was stinging the ball consistently with a 1.000 OPS in 18 games. The unheralded 25-year-old outfielder will be thrown into the fire to face Cubs lefty Shota Imanage on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field with the Phillies continuing to search for answers in the middle of their lineup.
  • PHI Catcher #10
J.T. Realmuto (back) is in the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Cubs.
It’s a positive development for the Phillies that Realmuto will avoid a trip to the injured list after dealing with a lingering back issue that cropped up over the weekend and caused him to miss a pair of contests. The 35-year-old backstop is back behind the dish and batting sixth on Tuesday against the Cubs.
  • NYM Right Fielder #22
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed Juan Soto (calf) will be activated for Wednesday’s game against the Twins.
Mendoza confirmed multiple reports earlier on Tuesday that Soto would return for Wednesday’s contest after missing just over two weeks with a right calf strain. Fantasy managers should prepare to have him back in their lineups. His return will provide a much-needed lift for the free-falling Mets, who have lost 11 straight games.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #45
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Christian Scott will be called up to start Thursday’s game against the Twins.
Mendoza added that Kodai Senga will remain in New York’s rotation with David Peterson going to the bullpen. It sounds like they want to give Senga, who will take the ball on Saturday against the Rockies instead, some additional time to work through his recent issues with Peterson shifting to a long relief role. It’s been a nightmare season for the Mets but Scott has always been an interesting arm and could have fantasy appeal in deeper mixed leagues. The former top pitching prospect hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since undergoing Tommy John surgery back in 2024. He’s posted a lackluster 5.27 ERA despite a 17/2 K/BB ratio across 13 2/3 innings at Triple-A Syracuse this season.
  • NYY Center Fielder #12
Trent Grisham is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Red Sox.
Grisham, 29, will get a break against southpaw Connelly Ealy and the Boston staff. Randal Grichuk will get the start in Grisham’s place and left field while hitting sixth.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #51
Phillies optioned RHP Seth Johnson to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Johnson has been up-and-down a couple of times already in 2026, and that’s likely to continue over the summer months. Alan Rangel is up to provide a fresh arm for the Philadelphia relief corps.
