Jets HC Aaron Glenn told reporters TE Kenyon Sadiq (hernia) will be ready for Week 1.

Sadiq is getting closer to being ready, according to Glenn. The head coach reiterated as he said earlier this month that Sadiq’s absence won’t extend into the regular season. Missing as much time as he did this offseason and in training camp, it’s unlikely Sadiq will have an immediate fantasy impact.
Hall worth drafting at discount ADP after injury
Denny Carter believes fantasy managers should still "buy the dip" on Jets RB Breece Hall following his groin injury, a setback that makes him a draft value at his current ADP.

Sadiq underwent the procedure early in the offseason but recently suffered a setback. The good news is that Glenn said it isn’t something that will sideline him during the regular season. Still, missing the first half of training camp is not a great start for a rookie, let alone one playing a position that is notoriously difficult to transition from college to pro. Sadiq will likely pick up steam as the season goes on, but he doesn’t figure to have much fantasy value during the first month of the season.
  • NYJ Tight End #16
Sadiq has missed recent training camp practices for undisclosed reasons. Now we know his recovery from surgery has not gone as expected. Though Glenn remains confident Sadiq — the team’s first round pick in the 2026 draft — will be OK for Week 1, fantasy managers should keep a close eye on Sadiq’s status in the coming weeks. For now the rookie is listed as the Jets TE2 behind Mason Taylor.
  • NYJ Tight End #16
This marks the third straight day Sadiq has missed as he recovers from offseason hernia surgery. Head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters Sadiq is on a “maintenance program” for now, and did not offer a return date for the first-round rookie. Sadiq is listed as the Jets’ TE2 behind Mason Taylor, with Jeremy Ruckert behind the rookie. Fantasy managers should monitor Sadiq’s training camp participation in the coming weeks.
  • NYJ Tight End #16
Head coach Aaron Glenn said after practice that Sadiq’s absence was due to maintenance after the rookie underwent offseason hernia surgery. We don’t know if the plan is to give Sadiq these rest days throughout camp or just in the early portion, but fantasy managers shouldn’t be alarmed by an occasional DNP. Barring any reports of a setback, Sadiq appears to be in good shape to be available for Week 1, and he’s expected to take on a significant role early on for Glenn and the new-look Jets.
  • NYJ Tight End #16
Sadiq returned to practice on the first day of training camp after missing the offseason program due to a minor hernia surgery. Glenn talked up the rookie’s versatility and his athleticism, which he has in spades. Sadiq will likely start off the season as a part-time player, mixing in with second-year tight end Mason Taylor. The latter is a reliable blocker and a true inline tight end, while Sadiq profiles as a big slot. That could limit Sadiq to TE2 numbers early in his rookie campaign, but a breakout over the second half of the season would surprise no one.
  • NYJ Tight End
This is more of an update than breaking news. It was reported in May that Sadiq underwent minor hernia surgery and was expected to be ready by camp, and it doesn’t appear anything has changed a month later. The rookie did not participate in OTAs and minicamp and will be behind entering camp, per Jets OC Frank Reich, but they have a plan to get him up to speed once he returns. The Jets used the No. 16 overall pick on Sadiq in this year’s draft, hoping his elite athleticism and 4.39 speed can add another element to an offense that finished 29th in scoring last season. How the Jets plan to use Sadiq in his rookie season will determine his fantasy outlook, but he could turn into a solid late-round value if he factors into the passing game early on.
  • NYJ Tight End
Per Glenn, the Jets knew about this issue before the draft, so it doesn’t come as a surprise to the team. Still, it’s a slight concern that Sadiq will miss some valuable reps during the offseason program. If he is full-go for camp, this won’t be much of an issue, but there is now some injury-related risk with the rookie tight end. Sadiq will likely open his career in a timeshare with 2025 second-round pick Mason Taylor. For now, fantasy managers should treat Sadiq as a high-upside TE2.
  • NYJ Tight End
Sadiq, 21, posted a 52/568/8 receiving line in his third and final season at Oregon before clocking a record-setting 4.39-second 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine. He should operate as the Jets’ primary receiving tight end in year one, while second-year TE Mason Taylor handles blocking duties. It could be tough for Sadiq to produce as a fantasy TE1 as a rookie if he is limited to playing in 12 personnel, but training camp reports should clarify his expected usage. Sadiq’s $22.3 million contract is fully guaranteed.
  • PHI Wide Receiver
Per Fowler, Jets TE Kenyon Sadiq “was also believed to be part of the Rams’ first-round conversation at some point,” along with Cowboys S Caleb Downs. Both the former USC wide receiver and the former Oregon tight end were available when the Rams were on the clock. The former Ohio State safety was taken two picks earlier. The Rams are slated to pick 29th in Rounds 2 and 3 today. Given their interest in Lemon, a slot/Z-receiver, and Sadiq, a receiving tight end, it would be unsurprising to see them draft a pass catcher today.
  • NYJ Tight End
Sadiq (6’3/241) backed up fellow NFL tight end Terrence Ferguson as an underclassman. Even then, it was clear he was going to be the Ducks’ next star. Sadiq posted 308 yards as a sophomore, but did so while averaging over 10 yards after the catch per reception. He then took over for an NFL-bound Ferguson and went for 568 yards and eight scores on 52 grabs as a true junior. Sadiq didn’t dominate his team’s targets, but he blew by unsuspecting defenders with ease almost every week. He finished second among all tight ends in gains of 20-plus yards, of which he had 13. Sadiq’s slot-only size could have been an issue for some NFL teams, but he silenced the doubters at the NFL Combine with a record-setting 40-yard dash of 4.39 seconds. Sadiq is a competent blocker but nothing more. We wouldn’t expect his NFL team to ask him to block that often anyway. Because of his game-breaking speed, Vernon Davis is the common NFL comparison for Sadiq. Though Davis entered the NFL with 13 pounds over Sadiq, it’s still one of the only applicable comps out there.

Chiefs WR Tyquan Thornton (hamstring) resumed practicing on Wednesday.

Thornton left Tuesday’s practice early after reportedly straining a hamstring. Apparently, it was a very mild strain. The Chiefs’ field-stretching wide receiver was back in pads, practicing on Wednesday. We do not yet know if he was a full participant, but it seems as though he is good to go.

    Jayden Higgins

    HOU Wide Receiver #81

Jayden Higgins tore his ACL during practice Tuesday.

It’s a devastating blow for the second-year pro and the Houston offense. Higgins was set to be the team’s No. 2 wideout behind Nico Collins this season after posting 525 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie operating mostly as a downfield threat. Higgins’ absence in the Texans offense leaves the team without much depth at the position. Expect Xavier Hutchinson to take on a much more prominent role in the balanced Houston offense while Tank Dell and Jaylin Noel see a bump in snaps and routes. It’s hard to say any Texans receiver not named Nico will have much in the way of fantasy value in 2026.

Tony Pollard (foot) returned to practice Wednesday.

Pollard had missed two practices with a foot issue he picked up in the Titans’ preseason game against the Niners over the weekend. Pollard went for 22 yards and a touchdown on four carries against San Francisco while Tyjae Spears had 35 yards on four rushes. Spears caught one pass in the game while Pollard was not involved in the pass game. Pollard profiles as a flex option in 12-team leagues, though he could be touchdown dependent with Spears taking on much of the pass-catching role.

The Athletic’s Matt Barrows reports Kaelon Black is operating as the 49ers lead back with Christian McCaffrey (tightness) sidelined.

Black had missed two weeks with a thigh injury before emerging as the clear top running back with McCaffrey sidelined. Barrows said Black “certainly didn’t look rusty, taking an early carry to the left for 50 yards and showing violence and strength on several ensuing runs. Black also had a catch at the goal line in a red zone drill.” Niners players and coaches were impressed by Black, who was taken with the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft. “I thought he looked good hitting the hole and running hard,” Brock Purdy said. “You could tell there was a different level of intensity when he touched the ball.” With Jordan James struggling through a broken rib, Black will have a real chance to establish himself as the Niners’ RB2 ahead of the regular season. Black should be stashed in deeper fantasy formats in case CMC, 30, misses time in 2026.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Chargers C Tyler Biadasz is out indefinitely with a knee injury.

Biadasz sustained a major knee injury this week in joint practices with the 49ers. Schefter said Biadasz sustained “damage to his ACL and additional injuries to his left knee,” and will seek second opinions on how to deal with the injury. That’s never a good sign, and likely means Biadasz is done for the 2026 season. His absence could be a blow for Omarion Hampton and the Chargers’ run game under new OC Mike McDaniel.

Tank Bigsby (toe) returned to practice Wednesday.

Bigsby, who will operate as the Eagles’ No. 2 back behind Saquon Barkley, had missed some practice time with the toe issue. He appears fully back well ahead of the team’s regular season opener against Washington. One of the most efficient rushers over the past two seasons with the Jaguars and Eagles, Bigsby should be drafted as a high-upside contingency option in case Barkley misses any time in 2026.

Makai Lemon (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.

The rookie first-round pick has been sidelined for nearly two weeks with the hamstring issue, as DeVonta Smith deals with his own hamstring injury. While Lemon was seen running on the side at practice earlier this week, the Eagles will probably be careful with the wideout ahead of their Week 1 game against Washington. Lemon should operate as the team’s WR2 when healthy.

Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said Jonathan Greenard (pec) could miss Week 1 against the Commanders.

Greenard injured his pec in late July and was expected back sometime in August. Whether it was a more serious injury than first thought or whether Greenard had a setback, he appears iffy for the Eagles’ regular season opener against Washington. Greenard’s absence would make the Commanders’ matchup a little friendlier for fantasy purposes. The Eagles and Vikings in April agreed to a four-year, $100 million extension that ties Greenard to the Eagles through 2029 and guarantees the linebacker $50 million. Greenard’s 13.5 percent pressure rate in 12 games in 2025 ranked seventh among all linebackers.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports Tyler Biadasz’s leg injury is expected to be long-term.

It comes as little surprise after Biadasz was carted off the field during Tuesday’s joint practice with the Niners. Losing Biadasz would be a heavy blow for Mike McDaniels, Justin Herbert, and the LA offense. It looks like the Bolts will have to play most of the 2026 season without their stud center as major injuries continue to haunt the organization.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Alvin Kamara (MCL) will miss at least one month.

Kamara, 31, exited the Saints’ Tuesday scrimmage with a knee injury. The one-month recovery timeline — at best — means Kamara will likely miss the team’s regular season opener, and perhaps their Week 2 game. Travis Etienne, meanwhile, should function as something close to a workhorse while Kamara is sidelined. Etienne’s PPR upside gets a boost if Kamara is sidelined for the first couple regular season contests.
