Mason Taylor (thumb) will not play in Week 3 against the Lions.

Head coach Aaron Glenn said on Friday morning that Taylor would miss Sunday’s game after being sidelined in practice throughout the week. It was reported on Tuesday that Taylor would be week-to-week with his injury, so it isn’t all to surprising to learn that he will be sidelined for this one. Taylor has -2 yards on two receptions this season and wouldn’t have been on the fantasy radar even if he was active.

Taylor got off to a hot start on National Tight Ends Day by mossing Dolphins cornerback Jason Marshall Jr in the end zone. Not content with just one score, Taylor double-dipped with a leaping touchdown catch late in the fourth quarter. He also scored the two-point conversion after the play. Taylor is running well ahead of first-round rookie Kenyon Sadiq right now and there’s no reason to expect anything different in Week 8 versus the Raiders. Taylor will be in the TE2 mix next week.
  • NYJ Tight End #85
Taylor is now up to 7/57 in two games since returning from his thumb injury. First-round rookie Kenyon Sadiq, who missed most of Week 5 with a concussion, is 3/15 during the same timespan. This Jets tight end targets battle figures to oscillate back and forth, but Taylor is the preferred option for the time being. It’s still not resulting in more than desperation TE2 value.
  • NYJ Tight End #16
The good news is that Sadiq was able to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday. Sadiq suffered the head injury in Week 5 against Cleveland and did not return to action. Mason Taylor led the team’s tight ends with a 59 percent route rate against the Browns, catching all three of his targets for 23 yards. If Sadiq remains in the protocol tomorrow, he would be a long shot to play in Week 6. Taylor in that case would be a desperation streaming option in 12-team leagues.
  • NYJ Tight End #85
Active for the first time since Week 2, Taylor caught the second most balls on the team as Kenyon Sadiq departed with a third quarter concussion. Those are awful developments for Sadiq managers, but almost certainly not enough to create TE2 value for Taylor, even if Sadiq misses Week 6 against the Patriots.
  • NYJ Tight End #85
Taylor’s return could be problematic for rookie TE Kenyon Sadiq. Sadiq posted a 7/105/1 receiving line two weeks ago before goose-egging last week. Taylor is not a serious receiving threat, but he can eat into Sadiq’s snap share. Sadiq likely remains a viable TE1, but his volatility just increased a tad.

Hall was initially mentioned as being week-to-week when he was diagnosed with his quad injury, so he was never really considered a candidate to play in Week 4 despite the team waiting until the end of the week to rule him out. With Hall out, the Jets will look to Braelon Allen to handle most of the backfield duties. Allen will profile as a solid RB2 candidate with a chance for more upside in what could be a high-volume day against the Bears. In addition to Hall, the Jets also ruled out OG Dylan Parham (knee), TE Mason Taylor (thumb), and LB Kiko Mauigoa (quad) for Week 4.
  • NYJ Tight End #85
Taylor was sidelined all of last week and, so far, all of this week with the thumb injury. He’d need to mount a major comeback on Friday to get on to the questionable line.
  • NYJ Tight End #85
Taylor missed Week 3 with the thumb issue and is currently considered week-to-week. A DNP today puts him on the wrong side of questionable for Week 4. Assuming he is out, Kenyon Sadiq, coming off a breakout performance versus the Lions, will be in line for a larger role once again.
  • NYJ Tight End #85
He’s considered week-to-week and didn’t practice on either of the first two days of the week. Taylor will likely be ruled out on Friday, opening the door for Kenyon Sadiq to see a workload elevation against the Lions.
  • NYJ Tight End #85
Taylor, according to head coach Aaron Glenn, will “be just fine.” That could mean he’ll be ready for the Jets’ Week 3 game against the Lions. Through two games Taylor leads the team in tight end routes while rookie Kenyon Sadiq leads in tight end targets. Sadiq, being targeted on 17 percent of his routes, would be a nice streaming play in Week 3 if Taylor is sidelined.

Cam Skattebo told ESPN’s Dan Graziano that he thinks he will be okay after suffering a hamstring injury in the Giants’ Week 7 win over the Texans.

Skattebo appeared to have tweaked his hammy on a 42-yard run in overtime that had a chance to be the game-winning run for the Giants. Despite the scare, Skattebo said he expects to be okay, especially with the Giants set to enter their Week 8 bye. His status will be one to monitor when the Giants resume practicing ahead of Week 9’s game against the Eagles, but for now, it doesn’t sound like there’s too much to be worried about here. Skattebo rushed 17 times for 124 yards and a touchdown last week after failing to see a touch in Week 6 following his costly Week 5 fumble against the Commanders.

Packers C Sean Rhyan is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 7’s loss to the Lions.

Rhyan exited in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Lions after he had his leg rolled up on during the Packers’ fourth offensive play of the game. The 26-year-old lineman did not return to the game and is now looking at a potential four-to-six-week absence. Rhyan has started every game at center for the Packers this season, allowing three sacks and 10 pressures on 394 snaps. He was replaced by John Williams, a tackle, who could be in line to make the start next week given the multiple injuries along the Packers’ offensive line.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Packers LB Zaire Franklin will miss some time with a hairline fracture in his leg.

Franklin missed Week 7’s game due to the injury after accidentally getting kicked in practice. While Franklin is expected to miss some time, Rapoport reports the team is not planning to place him on injured reserve and believes he will miss “minimal games.” Franklin has totaled 41 tackles and one forced fumble this season.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports Saquon Barkley (hamstring) is “trending toward playing” in Week 7 against the Cowboys.

Garafolo pointed out that Barkley isn’t a guarantee to play on Monday, but said “everything is looking good” for Barkley to make his return. Barkley was updated to a full participant in practice on Saturday but still carries a questionable tag into Monday night’s game against the Cowboys. While it’s always good to have a backup plan in case Barkley can’t go, we would be surprised if he doesn’t suit up, given his practice status all week and this latest report from Garafolo.

Raiders’ head coach Klint Kubiak said the team is “thinking about everything” in regards to the team’s QB situation after Week 7’s loss to the Rams.

Kubiak was asked about the possibility of switching from Kirk Cousins to rookie No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, and said the team is considering “everything” while also making it sound like their struggles were more of a team issue. Cousins struggled in the early part of Sunday’s loss to the Rams, but managed some late touchdowns in garbage time to save his stat line. If the Raiders are considering a switch, it’s possible we’ll learn their decision by Wednesday, when they begin preparing for their Week 8 game against the Jets.

Cooper Kupp caught both targets for 20 yards in the Seahawks’ Week 7 win over the Chiefs.

Kupp saw sparse usage as Jaxon Smith-Njigba went off in the first half and the team transitioned to a run-heavy approach while playing with a lead after the break. Fellow receiver Rashid Shaheed departed with a knee injury following a collision with Smith-Njigba in the end zone at the end of the second quarter, which is something gamers will want to monitor ahead of a Week 8 meeting with the Bears on Monday Night Football. Kupp could work his way into the FLEX discussion if Shaheed missing time.

AJ Barner caught 4-of-5 targets for 42 yards in the Seahawks’ Week 7 win over the Chiefs, adding four yards on three carries.

All three carries for Barner were tush push plays that resulted in first downs in key situations, while his five targets tied his second most of the young season. Even so, that was not enough to return a usable fantasy week outside of tight end premium leagues, keeping Barner best left on the bench or returned to the waiver wire, regardless of the severity of Rashid Shaheed’s injury.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 9-of-12 targets for 150 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks’ Week 7 win over the Chiefs.

Is there anyone in the league doing it better than Smith-Njigba at the moment? The reigning receiving leader put on an absolute show in this one, making two nearly identical bread basket catches down the left sideline in the second quarter, the first of which he snuck inside the pylon for his touchdown. He was forced out at the two on the second, resulting in an end zone interception from Sam Darnold two plays later. Those two long receptions before the break helped push Smith-Njigba to 126 yards and a touchdown before halftime, and he added an additional 24 yards on three more receptions in the final two frames as the Seahawks transitioned to a more ground-heavy attack while playing with the lead. Fantasy’s early-season cheat code has now gone over 100 yards in six of seven games while notching a league-leading eight receiving touchdowns. It goes without saying, but Smith-Njigba remains the overall WR1 in a solid matchup against the Bears in Week 8.

Emanuel Wilson rushed 24 times for 100 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks’ Week 7 win over the Chiefs, adding 15 yards on one reception.

Wilson handily outperformed former Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker in the latter’s return to Seattle, spiking his fantasy production with a 21-yard touchdown scamper late in the fourth quarter with the Seahawks in ice mode. The outburst went down as the second time in Wilson’s career in which he hit the century mark in rushing, pleasing fantasy managers that were forced into his services in Week 7 through both byes and injuries. Wilson’s days as the lead back in Seattle are likely numbered with veteran Zach Charbonnet reportedly nearing a return from his 2025 torn ACL. That could occur as early as Week 8 when the Seahawks face the Bears.

Sam Darnold completed 20-of-28 passes for 257 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Seahawks’ 20-3, Week 7 win over the Chiefs, adding 17 yards on two carries.

Darnold continued to flaunt his connection with wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba with zero regard to the naysayers, feeding his alpha 12 targets on 28 pass attempts, the latter of whom accounted for 150 of the 257 pass yards for Darnold. As you probably guessed, Smith-Njigba was also the recipient of Darnold’s lone touchdown throw, which was a dime down the left sideline on a corner route that the veteran signal caller dropped into the bread basket. The two would connect on another similar play later in the the same quarter in which Smith-Njigba was forced out at the two, with the result of that drive Darnold’s interception in the end zone. Darnold continues to do just enough for his team and not enough for fantasy managers that thought they could grab cheap production late in drafts. He’s better sent back to the waiver wire than inserted into starting lineups. The Seahawks next face the Bears on the second half of back-to-back Monday Night Football games, where Darnold remains a shaky fantasy option.
