Bears QB Caleb Williams (hamstring) was ruled out for Week 3 against the Eagles.

Williams is likely looking at a multi-week absence after injuring his hamstring in Week 2. Tyson Bagent is in the final stages of the concussion protocol after practicing in full Saturday but will need to be cleared by an independent neurologist Sunday to suit up on Monday Night Football against the Eagles. Bagent is officially listed as questionable.
What Rams WR will make up for the loss of Adams?
With Davante Adams missing between 6 and 10 weeks with a hamstring injury, Patrick Daugherty and Denny Carter discuss what other Rams' wide receivers could be good fantasy roster replacements.

Williams was all the way back in this one, returning to action after three weeks on the sideline recovering from a hamstring injury. His only real miss of the day came on a ten yard throw to Colston Loveland that should have been an easy touchdown. Williams tormented the pass-funnel Atlanta defense with middle-of-the-field throws, along with typical out-of-structure passes to the sideline. It was an impressive outing against a Falcons defense giving up the league’s fifth lowest drop back success rate. Williams should remain in lineups in Week 7 against the Patriots.

Williams will make his return to the starting lineup after being sidelined for a few weeks with a hamstring injury while the Bears declared RB Kyle Monangai, CB Tyrique Stevenson, LB T.J. Edwards, LB Keyshaun Elliott, OL Jordan McFadden, DL Jayden Loving, and QB Case Keenum inactive against Atlanta. Monongai’s absence should translate into another big workload for D’Andre Swift, facing a tough Falcons rush defense. Meanwhile, Tyson Bagent will serve as Williams’ backup.

This was expected to be the case but is now confirmed by sources close to the team. Williams returns after missing the previous three games as the Bears look to claw their way back into contention in a crowded NFC North division. Consider it a sizable boost for all Chicago pass catchers.

Normally, social media posts don’t count for much. However, earlier today, Bears coach Ben Johnson said that the Bears should have more clarity on Williams’ status by the end of the day, after the medical team put Williams through “the final stress tests” in his return-to-play program. We are inferring that Williams’ social media post suggests he passed the final medical testing, though we have not officially received word that this is indeed the case. For now, we tentatively expect Williams to play on Sunday. He can be treated as a mid-to-low QB1.

The Bears are smartly taking a conservative approach with their franchise quarterback. Williams had a limited practice session last week and practiced fully this week. Bears coach Ben Johnson told reporters that the team should have more clarity by the end of the day on whether Williams has passed his return-to-play plan’s final stress tests. Stay tuned.

The Bears’ QB1 is seemingly on track to make his return this week, when his team takes on the Falcons. When speaking to reporters after practice, though, Williams said he does not know if he is going to play yet, adding that he still has a number of tests and protocols to go through before he’s cleared. If active, Williams could end up running a little less frequently than he did early in the year, perhaps playing cautiously in his first game back. Regardless, Williams is a low-end QB1 if he is indeed active.

Technically, Williams was estimated as a full participant ahead of the Bears’ Week 6 game against the Falcons. We’ll see if Williams, who has missed the past three games, practices in full on Thursday. Either way he’s likely to be under center against the pass-funnel Atlanta defense in Week 6. He should be in all lineups if he’s active.

Head coach Ben Johnson said on Sunday that Williams would be “close” to suiting up for Week 6, and he reportedly had a good workout before Week 5’s game against the Packers. Williams has missed the last three games with the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 2, but the Bears have managed to go 2-1 over that span. Williams logged one limited practice last week, after being a DNP on Wednesday and Thursday. If he can get on the practice field multiple days this week, it would be a good sign for his availability for next week’s game against the Falcons.

It was time. Bagent found himself on the pine for the entirely of the final frame. Before his removal, he had thrown two awful picks without coming particularly close to any noteworthy plays. Bagent lacks NFL caliber arm strength, and it is worth wondering if coach Ben Johnson would have stuck with Case Keenum for the duration of Caleb Williams’ absence had he not wanted to avoid the precedent that you can lose your job while concussed (Bagent missed Week 2 with the aforementioned head injury). It’s hopefully a moot point now, as Williams appears set to return from his hamstring issue in Week 6 against the Falcons. If it’s not Williams, it will almost certainly be Keenum. Bagent can be cut loose in superflex leagues.

Why the Bears went through the dog and pony show of labeling Williams as “questionable” when everybody knew he would not be playing, nobody knows. Either way, Williams appears to have a strong chance of returning for Week 6 against the Falcons. Expect another run-heavy game plan, even without Monangai, in what should be the final game of the Tyson Bagent experience for the time being.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said Alijah Vera-Tucker (hamstring) and Ben Brown (knee) are unlikely to play on Thursday night.

Matt Pryor and Walter Rouse stepped in for the two guards towards the end of last week’s offensive line apocalypse and would likely be in line to start in Week 7. Neither Vera-Tucker nor Brown practiced on Monday or Tuesday.

Jonah Jackson (hip/quad) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.

Jackson left Sunday’s game with the injury, playing 64.9 percent of the snaps with Luke Newman spelling him. This is a good sign for his availability for Week 7 after Jackson did not practice on Monday, but he’s likely trending towards a questionable tag without a full listing on Wednesday.

Kyle Monangai (thumb/toe) did not practice on Tuesday.

He hasn’t practiced yet this week and appears very unlikely to go on Thursday night. It would seem to be trending towards another week with Roschon Johnson as the backup runner for the Bears.

Jordan Schultz reports teams seeking wideout help believe Hollywood Brown could be traded in the coming weeks.

Brown had two rushes for 12 yards against the Titans in Week 2 (not receptions) and has been inactive in every other week of the season. So, yeah, we guess he could be had. As could any of the several veteran receivers on losing teams who actually have caught a pass this year.

Eagles signed RB Eljiah Mitchell to their practice squad.

This time, they mean it. Mitchell has a decent chance to be elevated for Week 7 based on what we know today, which is that the Eagles waived Ian Wheeler from the practice squad and have only Saquon Barkley and Dameon Pierce on the active roster. This appears to be quite a fluid situation.

    Eagles waived Jaydon Blue.

They tacked on a waived/injured listing for Carson Steele, leaving the backfield with just Saquon Barkley and Dameon Pierce on the active roster. Blue did not officially get into a game with the Eagles after signing at the end of August. He’ll look to catch on elsewhere.

Rams signed K Brandon McManus to their practice squad.

With Blake Grupe done for the season with a torn ACL, the Rams worked out McManus and Matt Prater before agreeing to terms with McManus. The 35-year-old was released by the Packers after they drafted Trey Smack in the sixth round and hasn’t had any documented interest since then. He’ll be a reasonable one-kicker league play with the Rams.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Terry McLaurin (knee) tore his patellar tendon and will miss the rest of the season.

It’s another rough blow for Washington’s No. 1 wideout, who will now have missed most of the last two seasons with injuries with the book closed on a 15-catch, 230-yard 2026 season in just five games. Entering his age-32 season in 2027, McLaurin will be a release or restructure candidate with a $34 million cap hit. The Commanders could save $16 million by releasing him without getting into post-June 1 antics. In the short term fantasy calculus, Stefon Diggs will slide in as Washington’s No. 1 receiver and Chig Okonkwo will also get a boost. Antonio Williams figures to see more snaps going forward as well.
