Isaiah Davis caught all three of his targets for 49 yards in the Jets’ Week 7 loss to the Dolphins.

Davis only carried the ball one time. He got onto the field on the Jets’ final drive after Braelon Allen got shaken up. Geno Smith proceeded to pepper him with check-downs, one of which he took for 41 yards. Davis hasn’t been seeing the ball much with Breece Hall out. Now that Hall has a good chance to return next week, Davis can be dropped even in the deepest of leagues.
Nagy adds tush-push wrinkle to Giants' offense
Chris Simms praises Matt Nagy's play design from Week 7, where the Giants utilized a tush-push look in their overtime win against the Texans.

This was by far Davis’ biggest workload during Breece Hall’s (quad) ongoing absence, though Braelon Allen continued to dominate snaps and touches. Hall has to be getting close to a return, but even if he remains out for Week 7 against the Dolphins, Davis has not shown enough earn to merit second FLEX treatment.

Davis at least touched the ball after his Week 4 doughnut, but Pro Football Focus charted him as getting out-snapped 60-10 by fill-in No. 2 Braelon Allen. Decisive, to say the least. Even if Breece Hall (quad) is forced to miss his third straight game in Week 6, Davis hasn’t shown enough to warrant a 12-team league looksee.
  • NYJ Running Back #0
Breece Hall suffered a thigh injury late in this game and did not return, leaving Allen as the lead back for the Jets’ final two drives. He touched the ball six times on the pair of drives. Fellow backup Isaiah Davis did not touch the ball once. His role would likely grow if Hall misses time, but Allen is the clear target in his backfield on waivers. Allen would push for an RB2 ranking if Hall is sidelined for Week 4 against the Bears.

It’s unclear whether Hall added the “if necessary” bit or if Cimini did, but regardless, this is good to hear. Hall is practicing in full leading up to the Jets’ Week 1 game against the Titans and can be treated as an RB1. Jets RB3 Isaiah Davis (knee) is also practicing fully.

Glenn said he doesn’t believe Hall’s injury “was a big deal,” but said the star RB will be evaluated. It sounds like Hall avoided anything too serious, but given the nature of these types of injuries, it wouldn’t be surprising if Hall was sidelined for at least a few days. With Hall and Isaiah Davis (knee) both sidelined, the Jets are relatively thin at RB at the moment. Braelon Allen will slide into RB1 duties until Hall can return, and remains an intriguing late-round pick as the handcuff for Hall in fantasy leagues.
  • NYJ Running Back #32
Rosenblatt led his breakdown by noting that Davis and Braelon Allen will both get snaps, so there isn’t likely to be a clear winner behind Breece Hall. Allen missed most of the 2025 season with a knee injury. In his absence, the Jets leaned on Davis as a pass-catcher to give Hall the occasional breather. He was targeted 28 times and brought down 21 of them for 186 yards. Davis has also been effective between the tackles, averaging 5.6 yards per carry through two seasons compared to 3.7 for Allen. The Jets’ backup job could have some appeal in deeper fantasy leagues, but it sounds like fantasy managers will want to get more info from training camp before placing their bets.

Glenn reportedly wanted to use his backfield in a similar fashion last season before Allen went down in Week 4, according to an article published by ESPN. This would be potentially brutal news for fantasy managers eyeing Breece Hall in drafts, although it is worth pointing out that in the three complete games both Hall and Allen played together, Hall appeared on 59 percent of the team’s snaps while Allen played on 29 percent of snaps, and Davis just 15 percent. Hall also had 51 total opportunities over that span, while Allen and Davis combined for 22 opportunities. Time will tell if Glenn and offensive coordinator Frank Reich really do lean into this “three-headed monster” idea, but it’s hard to imagine Hall, who recently signed a three-year, $43.5 million contract, losing enough work to be forced out of the mix as a fringe RB1/RB2 given his three-down skillset. That said, both Allen and Davis could serve as viable late-round handcuffs for Hall should he ever miss time.

Despite adding 15 pounds since entering the NFL, Allen said this is the lowest his body fat percentage has ever been. Allen missed most of the 2025 season with a knee injury that eventually required surgery. At this point, it sounds like his recovery is complete. Head coach Aaron Glenn talked up his potential in the passing game, though he said that he views Breece Hall, Allen, and Isaiah Davis as a “three-headed monster.” Allen could have some minor stand-alone value as a short-yardage back this year, but the presence of Davis will likely prevent him from making much of an impact on the redraft fantasy landscape.

When asked if Hall will play, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said, “we’ll see.” Glenn has played coy with most start-sit decisions in the Jets’ 3-13 season. No reason to stop now. Hall logged just two limited sessions to close the week. He is scheduled to enter free agency at the end of the season. Preserving his health for free agency could be the smart move. He may wish to put his stamp on the season with a strong showing, though. It would be difficult to project his playing time if he is active. Treat him as a volatile RB2 if he suits up. His backup, RB Isaiah Davis (concussion), has been ruled out, leaving Kene Nwangwu (quad) and Khalil Herbert behind Hall.

Davis never really had a sustained run where he looked to potentially be the lead back in his second season, finishing with a 43/236/1 line on the ground and never crossing the 10-carry threshold. It’s likely that if Breece Hall isn’t brought back, Davis will remain behind Braelon Allen (knee) on the depth chart to open 2026. Davis could grow into a bigger receiving role if Hall leaves, making him a potential Kenny Gainwell-type player next year and someone who could be on the draft radar in what, well, doesn’t look like a very good team at the moment.

Chiefs special teams coach Dave Toub said Harrison Butker is “our kicker.”

“He went 10-for-10 yesterday, with Justin Tucker right there. ... We’re going to keep working it,” Toub continued. It sounds like despite signing Tucker, Butker will continue to kick for the Chiefs. At least this week, anyway.

Houston Chronicle’s Jonathan M Alexander reports Jaylin Noel (toe) is expected to miss the rest of the season.

It’s a rough blow for Noel, who had been extremely efficient on his targets. It does clear up space for some of Houston’s other receivers. The recently-activated Tank Dell and recently-acquired Marvin Harrison Jr. will benefit a bit from one fewer mouth to feed after the Texans come off bye.

Rashee Rice (hamstring) was present at practice Thursday.

That now marks consecutive days on the practice field for the veteran receiver whom has missed the previous two games. The Chiefs also had their bye in Week 5, giving Rice a full three weeks of recovery, which combines with his recent practice availability to make it likely he returns to face the Broncos. The Chiefs managed just 25 combined points in the two games without Rice.

Mansoor Delane (shoulder) did not practice Thursday.

Delane’s absence raises concerns surrounding his potential availability when the Broncos in Week 8. Coming off their first loss of the season, the Chiefs will look to rebound against a divisional opponent after managing only three points against the Seahawks. Delane has been a big part of defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s weekly game plan, allowing the team to rank near the top of the league in man coverage rate through the first third of the season.

Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) was not spotted at Thursday’s practice.

Wicks has not practiced since before Week 6’s loss to the Panthers and should be seen as doubtful heading into Friday’s practice session. We’d be surprised if he played in Week 8.

DeVonta Smith was not spotted at practice on Thursday.

Assuming there’s not a non-media practice portion that adds him to the report, Smith will enter Friday as fairly unlikely to play. We’ll see if he can get on the practice field on Friday. A limited session might get him on to the questionable line. Smith last practiced ahead of Week 6.

A.J. Brown (knee) did not practice Thursday.

The downgrade in participation raises serious questions surrounding his potential availability when the Patriots face the Dolphins in Week 8. Brown had been mostly limited in practice since being activated from injured reserve due to a separate ankle issue, with the absence Thursday marking the first fully missed practice in that window. Fantasy managers will want to monitor his status Friday as they make plans for their weekend ahead. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the veteran receiver’s absence is due to a “flare up” of a previous knee injury, placing his status for Sunday in doubt.

Saquon Barkley (hamstring/back) was not spotted at Thursday’s practice.

This doesn’t look ideal. Barkley practiced all week leading up to his return, and at this point he doesn’t even have a limited session ahead of Sunday’s game with the Commanders. There’s probably not a zero percent chance that Barkley is playing, but at this point the best Barkley-reliant managers can likely hope for is a questionable tag on Friday. Elijah Mitchell and Jaydon Blue would be in line to form some sort of committee if Barkley can’t go.

Keisean Nixon (shoulder) is questionable for Thursday Night Football against the Panthers.

Nixon was added to the injury report Thursday with a shoulder injury and is now listed questionable for Week 8 against the Panthers. We’ll get his final determination 90-minutes prior to first kick.

Divine Deablo (forearm) and Billy Bowman (hamstring) returned to practice Thursday.

Both players missed the team’s Week 7 win over the 49ers before starting Week 8 preparations with absences. A return to the practice field Thursday keeps the possibility of returns open ahead of a matchup against the Buccaneers.
