Mark Wilson has replaced him in the field this week.

Veazy made his first cut in a month at last week’s John Deere Classic. He has been replaced in the field by Neal Lancaster, who gets into the field via his T-6 at the John Deere Classic.

Veazey has been playing on the Nationwide Tour this season, and he has four Top-25 finishes in his eight made cuts.

The journeyman was 7-over-par through 33 holes and wasn’t going to make the cut. He pulled out during the weather delay this afternoon. Barring an extended ailment, he’ll be making his first career start at next week’s Quail Hollow Championship.

Veazey ended his stay early in New Orleans, withdrawing after 33 holes due to a shin injury. If he’s feeling better, it didn’t translate to his round today. He hit only eight greens and still needed 30 putts. Continue to bypass him in fantasy formats.

Former putting phenom Len Mattiace has taken his place.

This comes out of nowhere for the 45-year-old journeyman. His lone top 25 of the year occurred at the Farmers Insurance Open, his first start of 2010. And he’s cashed in just three of 13 events since. Veazey hit 15 greens at St. George’s today and needed a mere 27 putts. He dropped seven birdies. The 64 equals his lowest round ever on the PGA TOUR (first round, 2003 Western Open).

Veazet got his spot in this week’s field via a sponsor’s exemption. He has played only on the Nationwide Tour this season and this will be his first start of the year on the PGA TOUR.

Marco Dawson has taken his place.

He was also a last-minute scratch for the Wachovia Championship last week.
