CC Sabathia commented yesterday about his Saturday morning nightclub fracas that was caught on video. He wasn’t in a fight as such, but he had to be restrained by friends from going after a guy heckling him. From the New York Times:
“A bad decision on my part,” said Sabathia, who added that he was lucky he had been forced into the car. “You know, I probably should have just kept quiet and got in the cab . . . I could have easily just brushed it off, got in a cab and had a good night,” Sabathia said. “I just flipped out.”
Fair enough. We all go a little mad sometimes.
Joe Girardi said that pushing Sabathia back a day in the rotation had nothing to do with it. A lot of times I’d be skeptical but not here. Sabathia could’ve been volunteering at a soup kitchen Friday night and been in bed before 10pm and pushing him back a day is still a good call giving how his season has gone. The Yankees have a pennant to chase and having the big man get an extra day of rest whenever possible is a smart move.
